The Position

This position provides direct support related to Ethics, Compliance & Privacy (ECP) Department’s Government Accountability team, by supporting the organizations compliance with government requirements. This role will manage the systems, data and technical requirements to meet Novo Nordisk’s specific local/state and federal spend reporting requirements, including robust project management of data and a deep understanding the company’s integrated systems. Additional special projects in support of the ECP Department as assigned.



Reports to the Director, Ethics, Compliance & Privacy (ECP) Government Accountability while working with ECP management, global affiliates and other Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI) key customer groups (e.g., IT, Commercial, Legal, Medical, and Finance Operations). External relationships will include third party/external vendors and consultants, outside counsel, Healthcare Providers/Organizations and ECP Bangalore resources. This position has no direct reports.


Essential Functions

  • Supports the ECP department and the Government Accountability team in facilitating and raising awareness while fostering accountability for Ethics & Compliance program throughout the organization
  • Maintains understanding of laws and regulations, enforcement actions and evolving practices relevant to pharmaceutical compliance and proposes updates to compliance program, as appropriate
  • Manages the transparency system, including actively working to understand the data and system inputs to the system
  • Manages the export of the transparency system to meet local/state/federal report specificity
  • Manages and coordinates submission of data to the Federal CMS Open Payments system
  • Takes initiative and conducts exploratory data analyses to evaluate completeness and accuracy of data, which will increase the company’s confidence in the accuracy of meeting regulatory requirements
  • Performs analysis of structured and unstructured data to solve complex business and department problems utilizing advanced techniques
  • Informs management of ethics & compliance issues in a timely manner while encouraging the flow of information between colleagues and lines of business
  • Analyze large data sets to discover trends and patterns that identify potential risk and insights through predictive models and machine learning algorithms
  • Develops clear action plans with results-oriented goals for meeting deadlines
  • Builds strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective execution of priorities
  • Project Manages large projects (e.g., system implementations, system upgrades, data submission, data corrections)
  • Maintains protocols, guidelines, and associated documentation for the ECP Government Accountability Program
  • Lead culture of continuous improvement by evaluating opportunities in current systems and processes
  • Develops and maintains understanding of industry regulations and guidelines (e.g., PhRMA Code, Office of Inspector General (OIG), Food & Drug Administration (FDA))
  • Other responsibilities as assigned


Physical Requirements

0-10% overnight travel required.

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required
  • A minimum of 7 years overall experience is required; at least 3 years project management, pharmaceutical, legal, regulatory, compliance or IT experience preferred. Relevant Novo Nordisk experience may apply. Experience working under a government agreement (e.g., a Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA), Consent Decree) preferred
  • Must possess a general knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical sales, marketing, and/or product related practices
  • Must possess a general knowledge of US, local/state and federal spend transparency regulations
  • Must possess a general knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical industry regulations and guidelines (e.g., PhRMA Code, Federal Anti-Kickback guidance, OIG, FDA)
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with basic IT infrastructure and technology as follows:
    • Proven experience with data analytics, data governance, data privacy, data integrity, data mining, machine-learning, natural language processing, deep learning, predictive analytics
  • Technical project management experience

  • Demonstrates strong ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
