The Position

This position leads the business assurance function for Managed Care contracts. The role is responsible for managing an external team whose primary role is to ensure the validation of formulary eligibility for invoicing of all Commercial and Part D rebates. This includes the implementation and development of processes and procedures. Responsible for the development of best in class processes for formulary validation and research. Identify and track formulary compliance for Commercial Contracts team. Responsible to all aspects of commercial customer audits, from engagement of audit vendor, alignment of state holders, through audit resolution.



Reports to the head of Rebate Operations & Insights and works closely with Rebate Operations and Insights, Contract Management and Compliance and Strategic Pricing teams, field and home office management. External relationships include oversight of Novo Nordisk Global Service Center formulary management team, managed care customers, field sales personnel and system vendors.


Essential Functions

  • Accountable for the oversight of the formulary compliance research and report-out to internal leadership and Novo Nordisk Account Teams
  • Accountable for stakeholder and vendor engagement for commercial customer audits
  • Ensures Formulary Research team is accurately analyzing
  • Monitor formulary compliance to ensure contract profitability and customer satisfaction
  • Oversees that formulary compliance is reflective of the contract language
  • Provides analysis support for senior management
  • Provides formulary research for commercial and Part D contracts monthly/quarterly depending on the rebate claim frequency
  • Responsible for development and training for formulary research staff on formulary validation processes and industry knowledge
  • Responsible for development of the procedures and process for formulary compliance research
  • Works with Account Executives and customers to verify formulary discrepancies. Fiscal Responsibilities: Establishes, oversees implementation, and monitors adherence to administrative policies and procedures, including Sarbanes-Oxley controls
  • Manages a budget for the unit
  • Provide recommendations to Strategic Pricing team on formulary research findings to improve contract strategies
  • Responsible for development of reports confirming formulary compliance
  • Responsible for development of tools and metrics to evaluate and monitor formulary compliance. Reporting: Reviews and approves formulary validation reports prior to Commercial Contracts team implementing in the rebate system
  • Responsible for audit conclusion report out ensuring financial resolution of audit and learnings are operationalize by Novo Nordisk business units
  • Responsible for managing all business assurance related to rebate operations including and not limited to ensuring compliance between contractual exclusion language and contract set up in the third party system; 340B compliance and oversight and calculation of third party fees related to identification of 340B duplicate discounts.

  • Bachelor 's Degree required; relevant experience in specialized area may be substituted for degree when appropriate; advanced degree preferred
  • A minimum of 6+ years of progressive and related experience required with at least 3+ years in formulary analysis, contract analysis, rebate administration and/or pricing experience required
  • At least two years management experience required
  • Knowledge of Payer formulary concepts and processes is required
  • Background in contract development or interpretation a plus
  • Excellent PC skills required
  • Knowledge of manufacture rebate processes/systems a plus
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills, an ability to manage and improve people and processes
