The Position

The Key Opinion Leader (KOL) & Market Dev Strategist will be a pivotal driver in shaping an insights-driven KOL strategy for brand/therapeutic area's upcoming launch. They will manage KOL engagement and early market education. This role will seek to find a competitive edge and differentiation in NNI KOL strategies, setting high standards, and establishing/maintaining a proactive market leadership position. This role will drive collaboration across functions to optimize customer engagement and ensure a consistent brand/therapeutic area vision and message.

 

Relationships

Reports to TA [Disease Area] Lead. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, medical affairs, market access and policy/advocacy (MAPA), Centers of Excellence (COEs), regulatory affairs and other relevant NNI departments, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of KOL engagements and brand/therapy area strategies. Ensures consistency of brand/therapeutic area vision and messaging across all KOL touchpoints.

 

Essential Functions

  • KOL Engagement and Early Market Education: Develop and execute KOL engagement strategies to build advocacy and support for the upcoming launch. Oversee early market education initiatives to prime the market and generate brand/therapy area awareness among HCPs
  • Performance Metrics and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of KOL and market education experience strategies. Regularly analyze and report on the effectiveness of implemented strategies, making data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Thought Leadership Programming: Lead the development and execution of thought leadership programs, educational initiatives, and advisory boards involving KOLs to drive awareness and credibility for our company and products
  • KOL Interaction and Communication: Lead the facilitation of scientific communication between internal stakeholders and KOLs to ensure a mutual understanding of NNI products, pipeline, and emerging healthcare trends
  • Learning Event Coordination: Coordinate and drive participation in scientific conferences, symposia, and other relevant events to enhance visibility, brand/therapy area knowledge, and engagement with KOLs
  • Strategic Market Development: Support the development and execution of strategic initiatives to expand market awareness and educate providers on  disease/diagnostic stages, leveraging competitive market analysis, emerging trends, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve business objectives
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including KOLs, agencies, and partners. Facilitate collaboration and information exchange to enhance HCP engagement strategies. Build rapport and credibility with external customers
  • Budget Management: Ensure productive management of the KOL marketing budget to optimize resources, drive effective strategies and ensure budgets remain on track. Evaluates appropriate use of resources to ensure attainment of unit, department and Company profitability goals

 

Physical Requirements

20-30% overnight travel.

 

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years of experience including progressively responsible experience within sales, brand management/marketing experience within the pharmaceutical industry required
  • Proven knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, including medical, regulatory, clinical processes and market dynamics, especially within the specified therapy area
  • Strong understanding of regulatory, compliance, and ethical considerations in engaging with healthcare providers
  • Proven track record of successful KOL relationship management and strategic collaboration
  • KOL marketing experience leading brand/therapy area strategy development and driving impactful customer experiences is required
  • Proven track record of innovative market tactics/high impact results (based on metrics/ROI)
  • Outstanding planning and organizational skills with exceptionally high attention to quality of detail and proven track record of results and follow up
  • Proven experience leading market development and early market education activities is required
  • Successful launch experience in a marketing role
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence senior leaders and collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization as well as build rapport and credibility with external customers
  • Embodies leadership behaviours, including authenticity, servant leadership, will, empathy, decisiveness, a growth mindset, and driving focus and simplicity
  • Excellent planning, execution and follow-up skills
  • Experience with management of outside agencies
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others
