The Position
The Market Access Postdoctoral Fellowship is a one-year, experiential program based in Plainsboro, New Jersey.  This fellowship is intended to provide foundational experience for Doctor of Pharmacy graduates in Market Access within the pharmaceutical industry.  This position will support the market research, business development, and commercialization strategy needs of the Market Access Team at Novo Nordisk. The fellow will gain the skills needed to pursue a career within pharmaceutical industry where their education and experience can make a significant contribution to satisfying customer needs and achieving company goals.


The fellow will gain experience in the value communication, pricing contract strategy, and account management sectors supporting Novo Nordisk product categories. They will actively participate in value communication, payer marketing, pricing contract strategy, field account management, and other initiatives to increase access for one or more Novo Nordisk products. They will support the execution of key programs that will drive favorable, long-term relationships with key accounts and the managed markets channel overall. 


Relationships
The fellow will report to the fellowship track manager throughout the one-year program.
Additional key internal relationships include team representatives from Brand Marketing, Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR), Field Account Management, Insights & Analytics, Value Communication and Contracting Strategy colleagues across all franchises. Ensures strong collaboration across functions to strengthen patient and payer value story and provides timely communication of insights to all relevant partners.


Essential Functions

  • The market access fellow will complete a fellowship project for presentation to members of the department and leadership team reflecting on results and learnings from a project/experience to be determined.
  • Assist with the development and execution of value communications initiatives for franchise, including non-branded and branded initiatives – examples include but are not limited to, unmet needs & payer value story, working with an agency, learning the Promotional Review Board (PRB) process and usage of VEEVA, developing & testing value messages, generating Real World Evidence (RWE) to support the payer value proposition.
  • Supports the development of the payer contracting strategy through aiding in landscape assessments with various data sources, pricing research, scenario modeling, etc.
  • Observe/Understand the process of customer-specific program development and execution to improve product access, reimbursement and product pull through.
  • Understand how the strategy and resources built in Market access are pulled through with the customer.
  • Observes field account calls with various account types ie. Payers, SPs, health system, government along with understanding the pre-call planning process, selecting the right resource and pull-through.
  • Provides support to Account Management for tactical execution and participates in driving feedback generation that can be of value to inline or pipeline products.
  • Works collaboratively with Value Communication, Pricing & Contracting Strategy, and account managers.
  • Helps develop/present the material for internal and/or external trainings and presentations on payer value communication and market access.
  • Adheres to administrative policies and procedures.


Physical Requirements

  • 0-10% overnight travel required.

 

Qualifications

  • Received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy within the last three years.
  • Strong academic track record preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Presentable, highly articulate, goal-oriented, honest, with high integrity and strong ethics.
  • Track record of teamwork, innovation and project management.
  • Ability to think critically, strategically, and independently.
  • Possess good communication skills, both oral, written and presentation.
  • Demonstrate an ability to perform medical accuracy review with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word and overall computer skills with knowledge of literature search technique required.
