The Position

The Employee Relations and Workplace Integrity Manager role will work under the supervision of the ER and Workplace Integrity team and Director ER and Workplace Integrity to assist with ER matters and conduct investigations addressing both internal and external complaints received by the Company. The Manager will also be responsible for researching and analysing data relevant to investigations, executing trend analysis, developing work products and partnering with stakeholders to develop appropriate action plans to address areas of concern. The Manager will serve as primary support for ER and Workplace Integrity team members on complex cases and investigations, ensuring the accuracy of the team's case management, and will be responsible for handling less complex matters. The Manager will also be a resource on ER and Workplace Integrity matters with collaborative partners and stakeholders, including HR Business Partners, Ethics & Compliance, business leaders and employees. The Manager leverages subject matter expert understanding of the application of EEO and affirmative action laws, regulations, concepts, and practices.

 

Relationships

The ER and Workplace Integrity Manager role reports directly to the Director ER and Workplace Integrity and assists with and conducts investigations into EEO and other ER matters for the Company. This position will partner closely with collaborative partners and internal stakeholders/clients, including Workplace Integrity Senior Managers, Employee Relations Senior Managers, HR Business Partners, line of business managers, affiliates, centers of excellence, Employment Attorneys, the Legal Department, the Ethics & Compliance Department, and other relevant departments to ensure the prompt and through investigation of all EEO complaints and review of ER matters.

 

Essential Functions

  • Mitigates risk to the organization by assisting team mates with complex EEO investigations and conducting less complex investigations
  • Learns and leads the handling and resolution of Employee Relations matters to include performance management, conflict resolution and policy guidance
  • Demonstrates subject matter expert understanding of the application of EEO and affirmative action laws, regulations, concepts, and practices
  • Maintains the team’s Case Management database
  • Creates work products based on case information to use for trend and data analysis
  • Supports internal and external EEO related investigations, complaints and inquiries for the Company in partnership with Legal
  • Assists with and conducts thorough and timely investigations into discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other allegations of unfair treatment based on legally protected categories or as otherwise included in Novo Nordisk polices. These will range from routine to complex and include interviewing Company personnel as a neutral fact finder, reviewing personnel documents, and analysing employee data in a timely manner
  • Prepares written reports and summary of findings, with supporting documentation, that are fair, impartial and represent the facts, and analyze information to determine whether the facts suggest an employee was subjected to a violation of policy
  • Prepares, drafts and delivers disciplinary documents based on review and analysis of Employee Relation matters
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in safeguarding confidential and sensitive information
  • Provides investigation findings to relevant stakeholders including Employment Law attorneys, Employee Relations directors/managers, HR Business Partners, and business leaders
  • Liaises with relevant stakeholders, including line of business leadership, Employee Relations, Ethics & Compliance, and HR to convey any and all concerns resulting from investigations
  • Conducts research and analysis in partnership with Legal to provide insight into environmental trends as it relates to internal and external EEO complaints
  • Ensures proactive engagement with Employment Law Attorneys, Employee Relations Directors/Managers, HR Business Partners and all other relevant partners on all investigations
  • Ensures consistent interpretation and application of NNIs EEO policies, concepts, and practices, in all aspects of the employment relationship and related to ER investigations and related matters
  • Participates in the design, development, and delivery of Novo Nordisk policy and training initiatives
  • Partners with Employee Relations staff to identify development opportunities in the areas of performance management, conflict resolution and employee engagement
  • Builds strong partnerships with Employee Relations, Employment Law, HR Business Partners, Ethics & Compliance and all internal partners to foster trust and accountability

 

Physical Requirements

10-20% overnight travel required.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant experience required
  • Combination of education & investigations/data analysis experience totalling 7 years required.  Bachelor’s degree can substitute for 4 years of experience. EEO investigations experience preferred
  • Experience in utilizing, maintaining and pulling data from investigative case management systems
  • Proficiency in analysing and presenting on complex data from multiple sources related to EEO investigations
  • Experience in interview techniques, principles and procedures of record keeping and reporting, research techniques and data collection and analysis relating to Employee Relations and/or EEO activities required
  • Experience in preparing written reports and summaries of findings relating to human resource, EEO, or personnel matters, including review of policy violations, performance, and/or conduct concerns required
  • An understanding of policies, procedures, and federal legislation related to employment practices, including but not limited to Title VII, ADA, FMLA, DOL regulations, EEO Compliance and related employment laws is required
  • Experience working in a confidential setting, maintaining appropriate confidentiality and discretion, and exercising sound judgment in safeguarding confidential and sensitive information is required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to successfully communicate with managers, leaders, and employees at all levels
  • Experience in researching, analysing and applying federal and state laws relating to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, preferred
  • Experience in providing counselling and advice in employment and labour or human resource matters based on understanding of EEO laws, policies, and guidelines preferred
  • Experience performing detailed work with accuracy for a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and manage a high-volume workload and complex priorities
  • Proven ability to think strategically and effectively work across a large corporation
  • Demonstrated critical thinking capability and the ability to analyze large amounts of information to interpret laws and apply them to various situations
  • Business acumen and reliability

 

 

The base compensation range for this position is $99,600 to $184,200. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance. Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
