The Position

The Associate Manager of Technical Production will be responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of video production, including equipment, systems, and workflows. Works with the Director of Conference Centre & Studio Operations, as well as with the creative team, production team, internal stakeholders and external teams to ensure that all video productions meet the highest standards of technical quality, efficiency, and reliability.

 

Relationship

This job reports to a Director in the Conference Services and Production Operations division of the finance department.

 

This job should be expected to deal with Novo employees in the home office as well as multiple managed services.

 

Interacts with Director daily to review the day-to-day happenings in the home office ensuring that client/ stakeholders are met with top of class content creation and video production experiences.

 

Essential Functions

  • Technical Leadership and Management
    • Lead and manage the technical aspects of video production, including camera systems, lighting equipment, audio setups, and post-production tools
    • Oversee the maintenance, organization, and inventory of video production equipment to ensure optimal functionality and availability for projects
    • Set technical production direction, and apply subject matter expertise to make recommendations on new technology and equipment to enhance the overall client experience
    • Develop and implement standardized technical workflows and best practices to optimize efficiency and quality across all video production projects
  • Collaboration and Relationship Management
    • Participate and collaborate with the Director of Conference Center & Studio Operations, key stakeholders, and creative team in kick-off meetings to understand technical requirements, provide input on equipment selection, and ensure seamless integration with creative and production needs
    • Build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships across the organization to support the successful execution of video production projects
    • Manage relationships within a difference workplace including: external vendors, rental houses, and technical service providers to supplement in-house capabilities when necessary
  • Evaluation, Compliance, and Improvement
    • Conduct post-project evaluations to assess the success of the video production and identify areas for improvement in future productions
    • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations related to video production equipment and workflows
  • People Management and Support
    • Provide technical expertise and support during pre-production, production, and post-production stages to troubleshoot issues, optimize setups, ensure high-quality output
    • Identify, hire, and manage third-party vendors as needed to support specialized aspects of production
    • Mentor and support production staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment
  • Flexibility and Additional Responsibilities
    • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Conference Center & Studio Operations
    • Have an entrepreneurial mindset in your day-to-day approach to creating solutions and solving problems as they arise. Be proactive in that mindset, create, test, and execute with a client central approach

 

Physical Requirements

0-10% travel.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and shift/ move furniture if necessary as it pertains to the meeting location/ space.

This position is onsite in Plainsboro, NJ.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, concentration in Film, Media Production, Broadcasting, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience working in technical management of audio video conferencing, streaming, video production or broadcast environment
  • In-depth knowledge of video production equipment, cameras, lighting, audio systems, and post-production tools
  • Strong understanding of technical aspects of video production, including camera operation, lighting setups, audio recording, and post-production workflows
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends in video production technology, digital media, and distribution platforms
  • Experience managing teams and 3rd party vendors
