Associate Director - Market Access Insights

The Position

Provides insights and analytics expertise to guide the Business units (BU) and the Market Access teams on managed markets strategy development and execution. Collaborates with Strategy & Innovation, Market Access, and the rest of the BU Insights Team to identify market and customer scenarios expected to have a high impact on Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI) business. Develop analytical models to help make business critical decisions.

 

Assesses product and customer performance for all customer segments and identifies opportunities to alter/develop market / customer strategies to optimize market approach and managed markets strategies for the organization. Develops and reports insightful metrics to relevant groups, contributing to managed markets strategy decisions. Responsible for development and maintenance of a repository of strategy lessons and best-practices.

 

Leads a team of customer insights and analytics analysts and managers to support the business unit I&A, and market access teams.

 

Relationships

Reports to the Senior Director, Diabetes BU Insights and Analytics. Works closely with BU I&A, the rest of CE, Market Access and Pricing, Contracting, Operations and Reimbursement (PCOR).  This role will also support obesity BU given the synergies between the two groups in terms of market access insights.

 

Essential Functions

  • Analysis and Insights
    • Scan the market to understand key trends impacting markets and organized customers
    • Collaborate with Strategy & Innovation (S&I), Market Access Leadership Teams and the BU I&A teams to identify market and customer scenarios expected to have a high impact on NNI business
    • Develop analytical models to help make business critical decisions
    • Develop business cases with concise and complete storylines to communicate and secure buy-in on recommendations
    • Measure impact of strategies implemented
  • Market Research
    • Ensure collaboration with S&I and Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) to lead their market research projects
    • Continuously elevate the expertise in market access research to provide meaningful insights to the business units to drive their business forward
  • Planning process support
    • Collaborate with Market Intelligence and Strategic Planning to create the process for strategy development for the business units
  • Performance monitoring and analysis
    • Support proactive performance analytics to understand drivers and barriers of brand performance and propose opportunities to drive the business forward
    • Connect market research and analytics findings to develop opportunities

 

Physical Requirements

10-20% overnight travel required.

 

Development of People

Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Statistics, Engineering or related field required
  • Eight years of relevant experience required
  • Pharmaceutical experience or related industry in analytics is required
  • A Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) preferred
  • Creative problem-solving with ability to solve complex unstructured problems; see opportunities through scattered pieces of information and present complex and disparate data in a clear and concise manner
  • Analytical and/or technical proficiency at analyzing large data sets to derive insights
  • Proven track record of innovative problem solving and process improvements with ability to align and excite those involved in executing improved methods and procedures
  • Proven ability to manage people and multiple work streams in parallel.
  • Minimum of 1 year management / supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills required
  • Experience with data visualization tools preferred
  • Experience analyzing pharmaceutical data, specifically Xponent, Xponent PlanTrak, data is required
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced, environment, with a quality control focus and a documentation orientation
  • Innate intellectual curiosity, demonstrated desire to take initiative, and ability to think creatively to solve complex problems
  • Outstanding team- and client-facing communication skills
  • Project management skills
  • Quantitative analysis skills
  • Relevant consulting experience can be substituted as deemed appropriate
  • Strong ability to work independently as well as in teams
  • Ability to lead without authority/reporting relationship required
