The Position

The Associate Director, CM Sales Strategy & Engagement, plays a critical role in enhancing communication and engagement in support of the Cardiometabolic Sales Force. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure that all strategic communications—ranging from key initiatives and training to cyclical events—are effectively coordinated and disseminated across the organization.

 

This position provides essential support to the Strategic Advisor (SA) function, managing project timelines and content that align with departmental priorities. The Associate Director is responsible for preparing high-quality presentations and memoranda for Executive Office meetings, ensuring that insights accurately reflect sales performance and execution. Additionally, this role will oversee the development and execution of comprehensive communication strategies, collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance overall organizational effectiveness.

 

Ultimately, this role is pivotal in driving engagement, aligning communications with strategic goals, and strengthening the connection between the sales team and leadership

 

Relationships

Reports to the Director of Strategy and Engagement (Strategic Advisor). Collaborates closely with multiple home office functions including the Sales Leadership Team,  Marketing, Sales Training, Trade, Market Access, Managed Markets, Medical, Legal, Communications, and Human Resources.  Collaborates and interacts will Sales Leadership and their direct reports Communication and training communication needs.  Partners heavily within the Sales Execution & Operations as well as Corporate Communications function to ensure seamless execution and communication of initiatives out to the field. External relationships include vendors, consultants and suppliers. 

 

Essential Functions

  • STRATEGIC ADVISOR SUPPORT
    • Support SA in preparing comprehensive memos, content, and analysis for the executive office
    • Project management support for SA and SLT 
    • Coordination support for SLT activities: Meeting planning, meeting content, pre-reads, executive summaries and tracking of action items. 
    • Partner with SLT, the Corp. Communications department, and internal stakeholders to ensure optimal communication approaches for scheduled events, broadcasts, and messages.
    • Coordination and booking of national Town Halls with cross functional departments including MKC and Corporate Communications
  • FIELD SUPPORT
    • Position responsible for the Field Operations Learn How Platform which provides all training support of the Field Operations owned systems such as Veeva, Connex and Icoach
    • Position is also responsible for the oversightand maintenance of all Field Based email distribution lists
  • FIELD PLANNING and ENGAGEMENT 
    • Develops and maintains a robust and efficient communication plan to inform, engage, motivate and retain talent within the field
    • Ensures alignment and continuity of messaging to the field
    • Develops innovative ways to communicate to field on matters of importance
    • Oversees the implementation of the communication strategies and methodology  to enhance engagement and effectiveness of all communications
    • Measures effectiveness of engagements and adjusts approaches as needed
    • Ensures messaging between Cardiometabolic Sales, Rare Diseaseand Market Access and internal departments is consistent with and aligned to sales initiatives and strategies
    • Accountable for the development of the communication calendar for Diabetes/Obesity Sales
    • Vendor relationship management: Master Calendar, Connect, Distribution Lists, and other related platforms.
    • Review usage reports to extract insights on engagement levels and make strategic decisions on communication strategies and timing
    • Vendor Management & Analytics: By overseeing vendor relationships and leveraging data analytics, this role ensures that the sales team has access to the best tools and resources. This analytical approach helps in refining communication strategies and understanding team engagement levels.
    • Written Communications: Advise on and execute field communication requests from home office stakeholders
    • Ensure leadership alignment and continuity of messaging intended for the field
    • Support and partner with HRBPs on P&O communications that are relevant for the field
  • TECHNOLOGY
    • Ensures the appropriate channel for key messages and initiatives
    • Oversee and manage the engagement platform
    • Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure an optimal approach to reaching end-users with communications through the engagement platform.
    • Content Management: The responsibility for managing digital content and crafting written communications ensures that essential information is readily available across engagement platforms. This role is instrumental in delivering timely and relevant messages that empower the sales team through technology.
    • Partners with respective technology teams to ensure technology can support the optimal approach to training and communications. Assures the Field ride request platform is maintained in an efficient manner and has ownership of the Learn How Field Operations application both content and dissemination

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s from an accredited institution is required.  Advanced degree preferred (MBA or Masters).
  • Requires a minimum of 9+ years of progressively responsible experience in strategic planning and execution, communications and/or training in support of a field force.  Pharmaceutical experience preferred
  • Communication background is preferred
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills required 
  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, execute and follow-up in a timely manner and anticipate problems and roadblocks
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Must be able to translate problem statements and areas of improvement focus into specific projects and recommendations
  • Must be able to work independently in pursuing project work and developing recommendations
  • Ability to synthesize the needs of a complex matrix of internal customers and gain consensus on approaches
  • Strong attention to detail and high-quality results required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required

The base compensation range for this position is $148,290 to $259,510. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.  
 

Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
