The Position

The Director of Alternative Models Program Management is responsible for ensuring the timely execution of initiatives aligned with our alternative model strategy. This role focuses on orchestrating and driving the end-to-end progress of multiple initiatives, managing cross-functional interdependencies, and tracking progress to drive accountability and success. By driving the collaboration among teams and key stakeholders, the Director of Program Management oversees the coordination and execution necessary to design, launch, and scale our most critical initiatives in alternative model areas. This role ensures strategic initiatives are delivered efficiently and consistently by partnering closely with cross-functional team at an enterprise level to translate strategic direction into actionable plans.

 

Relationships

Reports to the Director of Alternative Models Strategy Enablement. Works closely with colleagues within MAPA, especially in close collaboration with the Obesity, Diabetes, and MASH team. Occasionally partners with MAPA senior leaders to provide insights and contribute to high-level discussions. Engages regularly with colleagues across Marketing & Patient Solutions, Executive Office / USO Strategy, Legal, Finance, and other relevant departments at an enterprise level. Importantly, interacts daily with Alternative Models’s Director of Strategic Partnership Management and Director of Strategy to ensure alignment and cohesive execution of initiatives.

 

Essential Functions

  • Manage interdependencies across multiple initiatives by identifying connections and ensuring clear communication among project teams, ensuring information flows smoothly to the Strategy Enablement leader for prioritization and decision-making
  • Facilitate regular cross-functional meetings to assess potential impacts of project changes, align strategies, and mitigate conflicts, fostering collaboration to ensure successful execution of all initiatives
  • Work closely with the Director of Strategy and Director of Account Management and other relevant teams to align initiatives with strategic goals
  • Lead planning sessions and provide updates on operational execution and alignment activities, identifying risks or delays, and preparing synthesized summaries for Strategy Enablement and other MAPA leadership to provide support
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional project management teams to ensure a cohesive approach to implementing and scaling alternative model initiatives and projects
  • Establish and implement criteria for prioritizing projects based on strategic impact, urgency, and resource availability to ensure alignment with the overall project portfolio
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting systems to track progress against defined milestones and key performance indicators (KPIs) while using data visualization tools to present clear and actionable insights to stakeholders
  • Conduct risk assessments for all initiated programs to identify potential obstacles and develop contingency plans, incorporating scenario planning to address various risk factors and effectively communicate strategies to relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare and present to leadership concise reports summarizing program status, outcomes, and insights derived from performance metrics
  • Facilitate post-initiative reviews to gather insights from teams on successes and challenges, share best practices across the organization, and foster a culture of continuous improvement in program management
  • Play a pivotal role in developing and refining the Alternative Model operating process from initial term sheet development to launch
  • Draft and structure term sheet and negotiation plans, secure leadership alignment, and facilitate workstreams to operationalize all terms and activities

 

Physical Requirements

10-15% overnight travel required.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Life Sciences, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in program or project management within the healthcare or pharmaceutical industries. An advanced degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience. Consultancy background (management consulting, healthcare consulting, or strategy consulting) is a strong plus, particularly experience supporting cross‑functional strategy execution or operational transformation
  • Proven experience in managing complex programs with interdependencies, demonstrating a deep understanding of program management methodologies, including the ability to apply structured approaches to execution, risk escalation, and scenario planning
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively lead cross-functional teams and engage stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to drive initiatives proactively and effectively, with a strong collaborative mindset and the ability to influence without authority
  • Ability to think strategically and align program goals with broader organizational objectives, supporting the Strategy Enablement team in enterprise-wide execution
  • Strong analytical skills to assess program performance, identify risks, and develop data-driven solutions, including experience synthesizing KPI, dashboard, and business impact insights for leadership
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences including governance forums and cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing responsibilities and evolving dynamics within the industry, reflecting a proactive approach to challenges and opportunities

 

The base compensation range for this position is $150,000 to $275,000. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.  
 
Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
