The Position

Provide legal counsel to Novo Nordisk on relevant issues involving application of US law, regulations & industry standards. This position will focus on contract/transactional work, business ethics, employment law & corporate governance. This role will interact regularly with Novo Nordisk US commercial affiliate, Legal & NNI Ethics & Compliance teams, as well the Global Legal Product Safety legal network.

Reports to Site Leadership Team.

 

Essential Functions

  • Partner with NNI US HQ Legal (Princeton, NJ), plus regular interaction with NC and Corporate Legal HQ in Denmark
  • Partner with department colleagues & various departments within Novo Nordisk
  • Develop Key Stakeholder relationships
  • Keep informed of new laws, regulations & industry trends affecting the company & assist with development of policies & training, as needed
  • Provide advice & training as necessary concerning relevant company policies, including those pertaining to business ethics & various laws & regulations relevant to company
  • Contract drafting & negotiation - draft, review & negotiate contracts, particularly service agreements, construction-related agreements & consulting agreements; advise internal stakeholders on contractual issues
  • Advise company on employment law matters
  • Assist with corporate governance-related tasks & coordinate with NNI US Legal on corporate issues
  • Identify legal & compliance risks & advise management
  • Perform & support internal investigations assigned by the Audit Committee Secretariat
  • Support processes that ensure legal & compliance execution
  • Manage external legal counsel within agreed budgets
  • Interact with external stakeholders & advise Novo Nordisk departments regarding interactions with government officials & local government agencies
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. (% can change on a case-by-case basis based on the role.)

 

Qualifications

  • Advanced Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited university required
  • Minimum of six (6) years of legal experience required
  • Experience within the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry a preferred
  • Experience with environmental law preferred
  • Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices, Pharmaceutical Quality & related topics preferred
  • Experience with complex contracting/transactional work & corporate governance preferred           
  • Experience with employment-related legal issues preferred
  • Experience with managing litigation preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills preferred
