About the role

We are looking for a Senior Manager Clinical Operations to act as the strategic driver of operational excellence, productivity, and resource optimization within the Clinical Development Centre (CDC). This role combines people leadership with specialist operational expertise, making you both accountable for team performance and responsible for driving operational excellence.

In this role, you will partner closely with senior clinical leadership to translate strategy into execution, ensuring the organization is equipped with the right capabilities, workforce, vendor landscape, and financial oversight to deliver high-quality clinical outcomes.

This position combines strategic leadership, data-driven decision-making, and strong cross-functional influence in a highly matrixed global environment.

 

Key responsibilities

Business Operations & Performance Leadership

  • Lead CDC business operations by driving workforce and capacity planning, productivity optimization, and performance management.
  • Translate global and regional strategies into local execution in close collaboration with the Director, CDC and senior clinical leaders.
  • Own and drive data-driven decision-making, defining and monitoring key performance metrics to improve operational readiness and efficiency.
  • Act as the local subject-matter expert for Clinical Business Operations, contributing actively to the IO Business Operations community across regions.
  • Oversee planning, management, and tracking of non-trial (departmental) budgets, ensuring financial transparency and optimal resource allocation.
  • The role includes driving the end-to-end delivery of larger annual CDC events, from strategic direction through to on-the-day execution

Vendor Management Oversight

  • Provide strategic oversight of clinical vendors (FSP, FSO, and other trial/non-trial vendors).
  • Lead vendor selection, onboarding, performance monitoring, compliance, and escalation management.
  • Ensure vendor performance aligns with CDC strategy, contractual commitments, and quality standards.

Clinical Legal & Payments Oversight

  • Oversee clinical trial site payments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with budgets, contracts, and internal policies.
  • Act as the main local point of contact for Legal, Ethics, and Compliance (LEC) initiatives related to CDC operations.
  • Ensure local support functions deliver optimal value aligned with CDC strategy.

 

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure business operations processes comply with ICH-GCP guidelines, external regulations, and internal policies.
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across CDC support functions.

 

Who you are

  • You bring 8–15+ years of relevant experience in business operations, financial planning, clinical development, or similar roles within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
  • You are a strategic thinker with a strong execution mindset, experienced in translating complex strategies into measurable outcomes.
  • You have proven experience working in complex, matrixed organizations, influencing senior stakeholders across functions.
  • You are highly analytical, comfortable leveraging data and insights to guide decisions and improve performance.
  • You demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills across all organizational levels.
  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business, Finance, Health Sciences, or related field; advanced degree (MBA/Master’s) is preferred.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus depending on local requirements.

Salary: For this role, the annual base salary ranges from $136,310.00  - $ 186,310.00. The placement in the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on your skills, competencies, and knowledge, and how your relevant experience matches the position requirements.
