MEDICAL OPERATIONS MANAGER - 12 Months contract

 

 

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Clinical, Medical and Regulatory (CMR) department at Novo Nordisk Canada is one of the most diverse and collaborative groups within the organization. From health-care-provider interactions and developing and implementing regulatory strategies with Health Canada to providing medical education and collecting data to support evidence and new product development, CMR is involved. The Medical Operations team, consisting of Customer Care, Medical Information, Medical Education, Medical Training, Grants and Donations, and Medical Omnichannel, is focused on building excellence and delivering value for the organization and our healthcare ecosystem customers.

 

THE POSITION

The Medical Operations Manager is responsible for leading projects and ensuring alignment of functional objectives with the Business Area and Corporate strategy. A key focus of this role will be to build excellence within processes in the most efficient way, innovate to drive change in a future-ready environment with a continuous improvement approach and promote data-driven new ways of working.

 

 

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Project Management

  • Works closely with the Director, Medical Operations to lead strategic projects with cross-functional teams and fulfils projects related to these goals
  • Act as a resource for CMR and other cross functional teams (Marketing, Market Access, Sales, I.T) to build or refine current assets and processes that will support the execution of key initiatives
  • Communicates project updates to ensure all participants are fully aware of their tasks, timelines, and responsibilities
  • Guide the implementation of tracking and reporting for key initiatives
  • Manages budget for projects, including PO creation, GR deadlines and department variances

 

Strategic Projects

  • Lead programs to enhance the quality and effectiveness of Medical Affairs
  • Ensure appropriate taxonomy of medical affairs activities in collaboration with the legal and compliance team
  • Support medical accountability with knowledge and capabilities, as necessary
  • Develops rationale and business case to support additional resources for new CMR strategic imperatives
  • Develop a performance and outcomes driven approach to Medical Affairs projects

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Creates and manages yearly project budget and tracks monthly
  • Ad-hoc requests or special projects as required

 

KEY COMPLIANCE

Complies with all Canadian external policies (Health Canada, IMC, BIOTEC Canada, etc.) and governance as well as Novo Nordisk BECF (Business Ethics Compliance Framework), SOPs, policies, procedures, vision and ways of working.

 

EDUCATION (Minimum Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bioscience, Lifesciences, Biotechnology or equivalent in relevant area. Master’s degree in related science areas or MBA preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Six Sigma is an asset

Preferred Education Requirement:

  • Master’s/MBA

 

EXPERIENCE (Minimum Requirements)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or related healthcare industry
  • Strong project management skills and experience in managing cross-functional and complex projects
  • Ability to work in a matrix structure, taking into account multiple stakeholders’ needs
  • Manages business complexity: Acts as a positive, flexible, results-oriented team member in the face of change and business complexity
  • Strong data and analytic skills and inclination toward using digital solutions
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, formal presentations)
  • Drives performance: Consistently meets or exceeds performance and behavioural expectations; works effectively and efficiently (independently and with others) to meet deadlines, commitments and objectives
  • Shares information and works effectively with all colleagues and customers (internal, external, outside of function) striving for the best ways to collaborate and accomplish shared objectives

 

Preferred Experience Requirement:

  • 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical company preferably in Medical Affairs

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This is a head office based role.
