The position

 

As Associate Director, Medical Education, you will lead the national Medical Education strategy and portfolio, ensuring scientific rigor, compliant execution, and measurable impact. You will develop and manage the team, drive enterprise-wide frameworks, and partner cross-functionally and externally to anticipate educational needs and embed innovation.

Your role includes:

 

  • Lead the national Medical Education strategy, establishing a long-term vision and roadmap aligned with global and therapeutic area priorities. 
  • Manage and develop a team of Medical Education Managers, fostering growth through structured onboarding, coaching, and continuous development. 
  • Design and implement enterprise-wide frameworks for needs assessment, content development, channel selection, and program evaluation. 
  • Drive cross-functional alignment by collaborating with Medical, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, and Ethics & Compliance teams to ensure strategic and compliant execution. 
  • Oversee the development, execution, and measurement of the national Medical Education portfolio, including speaker programs, symposia, digital learning, hybrid education, and experiential initiatives. 
  • Build strategic relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), academic institutions, medical societies, and accreditation bodies to anticipate emerging educational needs and influence best practices. 
  • Embed innovation into the strategy by integrating digital platforms, hybrid models, simulation, and adult-learning principles to enhance engagement and outcomes. 
  • Ensure compliant and effective operations through governance oversight, budget leadership, vendor management, and KPI-driven program evaluation.

 

Qualifications

We’re looking for a candidate who can bring the following: 

  • PhD/advanced degree in a relevant therapeutic area or adult education;
  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant pharmaceutical, medical education or medical education agency experience (Marketing/CHE/MSL/Med Advisor)
  • Project management knowledge and experience in managing cross-functional and complex projects
  • Bilingual English French is preferred.
  • CHE certification (e.g., CCCEP/other) asset or completion within 1 year; 10+ years’ relevant experience in pharmaceutical/medical education or agency settings (e.g., Marketing/CHE/MSL/Medical Advisor) with proven cross-functional project management.
  • Strong matrix collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Strategic leadership, adaptability in complexity/change,
  • Consistent delivery against deadlines.
  • Effective information sharing and communication, including formal presentations to senior management and top KOLs.

 

 

About the department

The Associate Director, Medical Education role is part of the Medical Excellence team within the broader Medical and Regulatory Affairs department at Novo Nordisk Canada. Based at our head office in Mississauga, you’ll join a collaborative and innovative environment where cross-functional teamwork is key. The department is dynamic and fast-paced, with a shared commitment to advancing medical education and improving patient outcomes. Although primarily office-based, the role includes up to 30% travel within Canada and internationally, offering opportunities to engage with diverse stakeholders and expand your professional network.

Salary: for this role the Annual Base salary ranges from $159,230 to $209,230.

The placement in the salary range will be assessed during the recruitment process based on your skills, competencies, knowledge and relevant experience match the position requirements.

 

Incentives: based on the role’s level and other factors, the salary package may include short-term (STI) and/or long-term (LTI) incentives.
