Assoc Dir, Home Office Patient Access
Mississauga, Ontario, CA
Job Title: Associate Director, Home Office Patient Access
Department: Patient Access and Public Affairs, Canada
Location: Mississauga, Ontario
Your impact begins here
As Associate Director, Home Office Patient Access, you will lead the market access strategies that help people in Canada gain public and private coverage for Novo diabetes and RareD treatments. You will shape the value story, steer health technology assessments and negotiations, and secure sign-off and support for brand access plans. Your work turns evidence into listings and reimbursement, so more people can access the treatment they need, on terms that are sustainable for the business.
What you’ll bring
You know how access decisions are made, and you lead people and partners with clarity towards the right result. You will bring:
- A university degree at MSc or PhD level in a relevant field.
- At least 10 years of experience in market access or a relevant position.
- The ability to set direction, translate strategy into ambitious goals with clear priorities, and make sound decisions when the stakes are high.
- Strong relationship-building skills across functions and cultures, with the credibility to negotiate and align internal and external stakeholders.
- A coaching mindset: you give honest feedback, keep an ongoing dialogue about performance and development, and create stretching opportunities for others.
- The ability to stay calm under pressure, adapt quickly to change and keep things simple.
Nice to have:
- Solid capabilities in health economics, outcomes research and/or statistics.
- International experience.
- People management experience.
What you’ll do
- You will own the access plan for your brands from strategy to listing, making sure the right evidence, value story and negotiating position are in place at every step.
- Set the Market Access and Public Affairs (MAPA) brand strategy for diabetes and RareD products, and work with Pricing to secure approval of the pricing strategy.
- Develop the brand value story, tactical tools, brand-specific plans of action and training that equip the field MAPA team.
- Lead CADTH and INESSS submissions and interactions together with HEOR, aiming for favourable recommendations.
- Lead pCPA negotiations to achieve a Letter of Intent on optimal criteria, and secure Product Listing Agreements with Pricing and field MAPA colleagues.
- Co-create global MAPA material as a member of Global Core Access Teams, and represent Novo Canada in industry groups to advocate for improved market access conditions.
- Manage the department and its budget, making sure each team member has a development plan with clear goals that reflect business priorities.
Who you’ll work with
You will join Patient Access and Public Affairs, Canada, where colleagues work across markets to serve people around the world and help improve health at scale.
Your closest partners will be Pricing, HEOR, the field MAPA team, Marketing and Medical Affairs, working together on shared brand objectives. Externally, you will engage with CADTH, INESSS, the pCPA, provincial payers and industry groups. Bringing these perspectives together, and speaking up when things stall, is how you will keep access moving at pace.
What you can expect here
You will lead with real ownership, from shaping strategy to closing negotiations, and your voice will help shape how global access material is built. Working with Global Core Access Teams gives you a direct line into international expertise, while leading your own team lets you grow people as you grow the business. You will be supported and trusted to perform, with clear goals and regular conversations about performance and development.
