We are looking for a VP Commercial, Cardiometabolic who would lead the development and execution of Novo Nordisk commercial strategy in the Spanish market. This role offers an attractive opportunity to build on strong Novo Nordisk legacy in Diabetes while further securing our leadership in the rapidly expanding Obesity market. Reporting to the General Manager for Spanish affiliate, the VP, Commercial is a key member of country’s leadership team and leads an experienced sales team of 160 people. In addition, the VP, Commercial will partner with peers in the Europe and Canada (EUCAN) Commercial Leadership team and cross-functional and therapy area teams.

The position is based in Madrid, Spain.

 

The Position
Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the development, execution, and expansion of short-, medium-, and long-term business strategies/sales  for the Spanish market. This includes creating and implementing a 3-5 year strategic plan, aligning functional objectives with affiliate, regional, and global priorities.
  • Being accountable for analyzing current and future market environment and creation and delivery of unparalleled value to our customers.
  • Identify and act on business opportunities to exceed budget expectations and business targets.
  • Actively contribute to shaping strategy and the decision-making in the affiliate. You will  build and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders in the affiliate, EUCAN region and broader organization.
  • Develop strong external networks with industry leaders, academia, and key opinion leaders
  • Build organizational capabilities to drive excellence in execution.
  • Lead, coach and develop your team, fostering a culture of innovation, engagement, and professional growth that is aligned with the Novo Nordisk Way. You will identify and develop talents, ensure succession planning, and participate in cross-organizational development activities.
  • Develop a diverse and inclusive working environment and promote cross-functional collaboration across sales, marketing, medical and market access teams.  
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company quality systems and procedures

 

 

Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced leader with the following qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in Life Sciences, Marketing or another relevant field. An MBA is preferred.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in sales and commercial roles in the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledge of Cardiometabolic space is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record leading sales teams and delivering strong business results in the Spanish market.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical product management and marketing, including direct experience with pre-launch, launch, and life-cycle management.
  • Substantial experience leading and developing high-performing teams. Second-line leadership experience is a must.
  • Experience navigating multidisciplinary teams in complex matrix settings and ability to collaborate and build partnerships.
  • Strategic thinking, ability to challenge the status quo, and drive change.
  • Capability to inspire and motivate teams, foster ownership, and promote a culture of continuous learning and growth
  • Result-oriented leadership style coupled with an innovative mindset and a drive to overachieve.
  • Resilience and growth mindset are essential skills for the role
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
