Do you want to be part of an interdisciplinary project team forming concepts and supporting our voyage to develop novel oral biologics to transform the treatment paradigm for a broad range of chronic diseases? Are you motivated by hands-on driving early scientific innovation for the life-changing benefit of patients? Then this is your opportunity in Oral Delivery Technologies. Apply now!

The position

As a senior/research scientist your main objective will be to focus on developing innovative oral drug delivery devices. Specifically, you will contribute to the ideation, engineering, prototyping, and evaluation of novel oral device concepts (“ingestible microrobots”) as part of an interdisciplinary project team. The team comprises a diverse mix of competencies spanning across multiple natural sciences and engineering disciplines as well as our R&ED organization.

Your main task will be to contribute with your knowledge of oral drug delivery technologies, formulation, material science and biomedical engineering, on the design and characterisation of oral device concepts. Furthermore, you will design and conduct experiments to support our cutting-edge science.

This opportunity will offer you high level of independence and flexibility within the research project framework. Working alongside talented colleagues, you will share ideas and inspiration across a breadth of different scientific disciplines and have the opportunity to collaborate across our global sites.

Additionally, you should hold the below qualifications:

  • Documented experience within sensors, actuators and electronics and be comfortable setting up physical experiments and calculating physical parameters.
  • Programming skills (e.g., knowledge in MATLAB and LabVIEW) are also an advantage.
  • A knowledge and understanding of the physiology of the gastrointestinal tract is preferred.
  • It is considered an advantage if you have a track record of original research within drug delivery and/or previous patenting experience.
  • Previous industry experience is an advantage but not a requirement.
