Structure & Interactions
Måløv, Denmark
Are you a skilled scientist with a passion for uncovering the complexities of protein interactions? Join our multidisciplinary team at Novo Nordisk, where cutting-edge biophysical and structural biology expertise converge to drive the development of innovative therapies for people living with serious chronic diseases. Here, your work directly shapes how we understand and design the next generation of innovative pharmaceutical solutions!
The position
As a Senior Scientist, you will impact the discovery and development of novel therapeutic agents across our modality portfolio by designing, conducting, and analyzing experiments using state‑of‑the‑art techniques anchored within the area.
This role requires you to spend a significant part of your time in the laboratory, while also efficiently communicating and collaborating within the area and across multidisciplinary project teams. In this role, you will use your expertise to support the development of high‑throughput screening assays for identifying drug candidates and contribute to the implementation of new methodologies and technologies for protein interaction analysis, with a focus on integral membrane proteins.
The working environment is dynamic and innovative, and involves collaborations with colleagues from global research sites, fostering a strong scientific network.
Qualifications
The position requires a curiosity‑driven mindset and scientific excellence, combined with the ability to take initiative and leverage synergies beyond your own area of expertise. In return, you will have the opportunity to contribute to and shape research projects that ultimately make a difference for patients with unmet medical needs.
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A completed PhD, and ideally postdoctoral experience, in protein biochemistry, structural biology, biophysics, or a related field, with hands‑on experience working with integral membrane proteins
- Demonstrated expertise in characterizing protein interactions using techniques such as surface plasmon resonance (SPR), biolayer interferometry (BLI), and fluorescence‑based assays
- Experience with, or strong interest in, automation, high‑throughput workflows, and computational tools for molecular modelling and visualization
- A publication record reflecting scientific excellence and breadth
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear recommendations for diverse stakeholders
Advantageous:
- An understanding of and/or background in structural biology to integrate interaction data with structural insights
On a personal level, you have a proactive personality and a positive attitude towards new ideas, people, and challenges. You are a strong team player who builds and maintains relationships with both internal and external partners, and a colleague whose enthusiasm for science and success inspires those around you.
About the department
The Centre for Structure & Interactions is a well‑established area within Therapeutics Discovery, which is part of Research & Development at Novo Nordisk. The area consists of 18 skilled and supportive laboratory technicians and scientists.
Our area plays a key role in identifying, optimizing, and characterizing new drug candidates in research projects across all therapy areas. We support projects in selecting the most suitable drug candidate for further development by providing holistic insight into how our molecules and their interaction partners are connected in structure and function.
As experts, we are enthusiastic about overcoming scientific and technical challenges through collaborative work. Our high‑performing, multidisciplinary teams consist of people from different backgrounds and nationalities, and we use English as our working and social language.
