Senior Scientist - MS Characterisation
Måløv, Capital Region of Denmark, DK
MS Characterisation
Måløv, Denmark
Are you a passionate scientist with deep expertise in mass spectrometry and protein characterisation? Do you thrive at the intersection of advanced analytics, early research, and cross-functional collaboration? Join us to shape how analytical insights accelerate the development of tomorrow’s therapeutics.
Your new role
We are seeking a dedicated Senior Scientist to join our team in Mass Spectrometry (MS) Characterisation. As a key member of our dynamic department, you will play a central role in cutting-edge research projects and contribute to the development of robotic and IT-driven sample analysis.
Our shared ambition is to use mass spectrometry for in-depth characterisation of proteins, peptides, and oligonucleotides, while expanding into new and emerging therapeutic modalities.
As a Senior Scientist, your primary responsibility will be to support early-stage projects by delivering high-quality analytical insights that enable informed decision-making across the development value chain. Working primarily with LC-MS techniques, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to reduce risk and accelerate project progression.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Planning and performing advanced sample analysis using LC-MS
- Analysing and interpreting complex data while ensuring high data integrity and quality
- Developing and implementing new analytical methods, while improving manual and automated workflows
- Presenting and discussing analytical data with stakeholders to support high API quality and project decisions
- Collaborating with the team to develop tailored analytical approaches for new projects, leveraging robotics and IT-driven systems for efficient data and sample handling
Your new department
The MS Characterisation department, located in Måløv, Denmark, is part of Drug Product Research within Research & Development at Novo Nordisk. The department plays a central role early in the development value chain, supporting projects across multiple therapeutic areas, including diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease.
Our work focuses on in-depth characterisation of proteins, peptides, and novel modalities using LC-MS, enabling teams to understand critical quality attributes at stages where insight is often limited. We combine cutting-edge analytical technologies, automation, and digital innovation to deliver high-quality data that drive progress.
Our team consists of high-performing, multidisciplinary professionals, including skilled laboratory technicians and scientists. The team is highly collaborative, scientifically ambitious, and committed to continuously challenging the status quo to improve how we work and deliver impact.
Your skills and qualifications
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated scientist with strong analytical expertise and a collaborative mindset. You bring a solid scientific foundation combined with hands-on experience in mass spectrometry–based characterisation.
You have:
- A Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Protein Chemistry or a related discipline with +4 years of experience, alternatively a master’s degree with +8 years of relevant industrial experience
- In-depth experience in analysing proteins and peptide samples using MS (e.g. Top-down, ETD, CE-MS, MS3), and a strong understanding of protein and peptide research laboratory techniques and workflows
- Experience with LC-MS, including proteomic sample analysis, and a solid understanding of analytical workflows supporting early-stage development
- In-depth knowledge of IT tools and laboratory software (e.g. GPMAW, Protein Metrics, Genedata Expressionist)
- Scientific publications within LC-MS or related fields are considered an advantage
- Fluency in English both written and spoken
On a personal level, you:
- Are a collaborative, natural team player who values diverse perspectives
- Bring scientific depth and are confident contributing to technical discussions and challenging the status quo when needed
- Show resilience and curiosity, especially when navigating complexity or scientific disagreements
- Are motivated by working across projects and contributing broadly along the value chain
- Have an interest in digitalisation and applying AI tools to scientific workflows
