The position 

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Scientist to join our team in mass spectrometry (MS) Characterisation. As a key member of our dynamic department, you will play a central role in cutting-edge research projects and contribute to the development of robotic and IT-driven sample analysis. 

 

Our shared ambition is to use mass spectrometry for in-depth characterization of proteins, peptides and oligonucleotides while expanding into other therapeutic modalities. 

 

As a Senior Scientist, you will provide essential support to early-stage projects focusing on the characterization and quantification of peptides and proteins from our collaborators. The core analytical methods of the department revolve primarily around liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry (LC-MS).  

 

Your main responsibilities will include: 

  • Planning and performing sample analysis 
  • Conducting data analysis and interpretation while ensuring data integrity 
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of manual and automated workflows 
  • Presenting and discussing analytical data to ensure high API quality 
  • Developing and implementing new analytical methods with LC-MS 
  • Working closely with the team to develop tailored analytical methods for new projects and contributing to the analysis of samples using pre-established methods 
  • Handling samples and tracking data by utilizing robotics and IT systems 

 

Qualifications: 

To thrive and succeed in this position, we expect you to have:  

 

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Protein Chemistry, or a related field with 4+ years of industrial experience. Alternatively, a master’s degree with 8+ years of relevant industrial experience. 
  • Proficient in general protein and peptide research laboratory techniques and workflows. 
  • Extensive experience in analyzing proteins and peptides by MS (Top-down, ETD, UVPD, CE-MS, MS3, MALDI). 
  • Strong knowledge of IT and laboratory instruments (Waters’ MassLynx, GPMAW, Protein Metrics, Genedata Expressionist). 
  • Ideally, experience in analyzing oligonucleotides by LC-MS and publications in liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry (LC-MS) 
  • Experience in regulated environments (CMC, GMP) is advantageous. 
  • Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing; fluency in Danish is a plus.

About the Department 

The MS Characterisation department, based in Måløv, Denmark, is an integral part of Global Research Technology within Research and Early Development at Novo Nordisk. Our primary focus is on the advanced analysis of peptides and proteins using LC-MS technology. We extend our expertise to support early-stage research projects across a diverse range of indication areas, including diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease. Our team is composed of high-performing, multidisciplinary professionals, encompassing both skilled laboratory technicians and accomplished scientists.
