Obesity Pharmacology
Måløv, Denmark
Are you passionate about in vivo pharmacology and eager to drive innovative drug discovery within obesity and cardiometabolic diseases? Do you thrive in a collaborative research environment where scientific excellence, curiosity, and patient impact go hand in hand? If so, this could be your opportunity to join Novo Nordisk and contribute to the development of tomorrow’s life-changing therapies.
Your New Role
As a Senior Scientist within In Vivo Pharmacology, you will play a pivotal role in advancing drug discovery projects from target ideation and validation through to candidate selection. You will act as a scientific expert within obesity research, collaborating across disciplines to deliver robust pharmacology data that supports decision-making and project progression.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading scientific activities within obesity research, target discovery, innovation, and project progression.
- Designing and conducting key internal and external experiments to validate human relevance and explore pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and mode of action.
- Developing and implementing new in vivo and ex vivo models, methods, and technologies to assess biological activity of new targets.
- Managing protocol writing, data analysis, interpretation, record keeping, reporting, and communication of results.
- Communicating complex multidisciplinary topics to relevant stakeholders, including development, regulatory, safety, research leadership, project teams, and governance bodies.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders in a matrix environment, as well as external scientific advisors and academic centres of expertise.
You will have significant influence on project direction within your area of expertise while working with a high degree of independence. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the discovery of new medicines that have the potential to improve the lives of millions of people living with serious chronic diseases.
Your New Department
You will join Obesity & Cardiometabolic Research within Global Research at Novo Nordisk. The department is dedicated to identifying and advancing innovative therapeutic approaches that address obesity and related chronic diseases.
Working closely with in vitro scientists and cross-functional research teams, the department establishes, validates, and applies advanced in vivo models across rodents and large animal models. Through a combination of internal expertise and external collaborations, the team delivers critical pharmacology insights that enable the progression of promising drug candidates into clinical development.
This is an environment where scientific excellence, collaboration, and innovation are highly valued, and where every team member contributes to advancing research that can have a meaningful impact on patient health.
Your Skills and Qualifications
We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with a strong scientific foundation and a passion for translational drug discovery.
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A MSc or PhD in a relevant life science discipline, with solid experience from academia, biotechnology, pharmaceutical research, or a related industry environment.
- Strong scientific expertise within obesity, metabolism, physiology, pharmacology, or cardiometabolic disease research.
- Demonstrated experience designing, conducting, and interpreting in vivo pharmacology studies, ideally involving rodent and/or large animal models.
- Proven ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse stakeholders and contribute effectively within cross-functional project teams.
- Excellent collaboration, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills, combined with fluency in written and spoken English.
- Experience supporting the progression of drug discovery candidates towards clinical development, as well as international collaboration experience, will be considered advantageous.
- Authorization to perform animal experiments, such as FELASA-accredited or equivalent certification.
