Are you motivated by translating cutting‑edge science into impactful solutions for patients? As a Senior Scientist, you will play a key role in driving high‑quality research, shaping scientific direction, and contributing to innovative projects within Novo Nordisk’s research environment.

Your new role

As a Senior Scientist, you will join the Oral Delivery Technologies department – a vibrant, science-focused team of scientists and technicians where innovation is at the core. Your main objective will be to formulate therapeutic proteins and peptides into oral solid dosage forms and develop innovative oral drug delivery systems. As part of a team of leading scientists and innovators, you will contribute with your own ideas and collaborate closely with others to develop the next generation of oral biologics.

Furthermore, you will:

  • Participate in project progression by contributing your oral formulation expertise, providing input to project plans, presenting data, handling scientific challenges, and discussing results and issues
  • Design and execute laboratory experiments, applying innovative approaches to ground-breaking research
  • Collect and report results with high accuracy and quality
  • Interact with a variety of stakeholders and ensure strong cross-functional collaboration
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of methods, techniques, and approaches

Working alongside talented colleagues, you will share ideas and inspiration across different scientific specialisations. Being part of Oral Delivery Technologies is a mutually rewarding experience that supports both your scientific and personal development.

Your new department

Novo Nordisk is committed to pushing the boundaries of oral delivery of biologics. Building on our success in developing the world’s first GLP-1 peptide in tablet form, we are expanding our efforts to develop the next generation of oral therapies. A key part of this ambition is strengthening our capabilities within formulation sciences.

At Oral Delivery Technologies, you will join an international, ambitious, and collaborative early research team. The team consists of eleven scientists, four technicians, a student assistant, and a PhD student, all working together to develop peptide and protein formulation concepts that enable oral drug delivery for type 2 diabetes, obesity, and other chronic diseases.

Based in Måløv, Greater Copenhagen, Denmark, you will be co-located with colleagues across the full research value chain for peptide and protein research. This is ground-breaking work with the potential to improve the lives of millions of people living with chronic conditions.

Your skills and qualifications

To succeed in this role, you are expected to bring:

  • A relevant PhD in Life Sciences (pharmaceutical sciences or another relevant discipline), combined with 3–5 years of industry experience.

Furthermore, the following skills are considered highly relevant:

  • An innovative mindset with a track record of research within the field of oral delivery of peptides and proteins
  • Experience in developing innovative drug delivery systems
  • Hands-on experience with tableting and capsule-related processes, such as spray drying and coating
  • A deep understanding of oral drug delivery technologies, combined with insight into GI tract physiology

As a person, you are curious and driven by the fundamental principle of science: to take on challenges that others believe cannot be solved and push beyond current boundaries. You thrive in a dynamic and evolving work environment and demonstrate a can-do attitude, with the ability to execute plans and meet deadlines. You display excellent collaboration and communication skills across all organisational levels, functions, and cultures.

You are a strong team player who actively contributes to constructive collaboration and values knowledge sharing. Your passion for science, combined with your ability to drive and advance projects, inspires those around you.
