PKPD & QSP

Måløv, Denmark

Do you want to help shape how mathematical modelling informs drug discovery and development? We are looking for a scientist with strong modelling capabilities and a solid foundation in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PKPD) to join our growing modelling department within Research & Development at Novo Nordisk.

Your new role:

In this role, you will apply your expertise in modelling and simulation across key therapeutic areas, working closely with subject matter experts across Research & Development. You will contribute to advancing QSP and PKPD capabilities while supporting cross-functional initiatives across the organisation.

  • Execute scientific strategies for Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) and PKPD in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Develop and apply QSP and PKPD models to support decision-making across discovery and development projects
  • Translate preclinical PK/PD findings into human predictions and inform candidate progression and clinical dosing strategies
  • Prepare study protocols, technical reports, and modelling documentation, including contributions to regulatory submissions
  • Integrate diverse datasets (in vitro, in vivo, literature, and competitor data) to generate actionable insights
  • Adopt and apply relevant AI tools to enhance scientific workflows and ways of working

Your new department

The PKPD and QSP department is expanding to support a broad portfolio across diabetes and obesity, haemophilia, growth disorders, and rare diseases. Our work focuses on deepening the understanding of disease and treatment mechanisms while informing key development decisions such as dose selection and combination strategies.

You will join a team of highly skilled colleagues working across early discovery, non-clinical, and early clinical development. We collaborate closely with global Discovery and Development teams and external partners, applying pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and mechanistic modelling approaches to support the pipeline.

Your skills and qualifications:

You hold a PhD in physics, mathematics, engineering, or a related discipline within quantitative biology or pharmacology, combined with relevant postdoctoral experience, ideally within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.

To succeed in this role, you bring:

  • Strong understanding of PKPD, modelling approaches, statistical methods, and data interpretation
  • Proven ability to identify scientific challenges and translate them into actionable strategies
  • Experience modelling biological or natural systems using mechanistic or hybrid models
  • Hands-on experience with modelling tools such as NONMEM, Monolix, or Phoenix WinNonlin, and programming in R, Python, Julia, or MATLAB
  • Ability to clearly communicate modelling results and their implications for project decisions
  • Experience in relevant disease areas, preferably diabetes and obesity

As a person, you are curious, collaborative, and motivated to continuously learn. You build strong relationships across disciplines and communicate effectively in English.
