Senior Research Scientist
CMC Development
Drug Product Development

Location: Måløv

Your impact begins here

As our new Senior Research Scientist, you will play a leading scientific role in developing drug products across Novo’s development pipeline. You will apply your formulation expertise and industry experience across early- and late-stage projects, working with peptides, proteins, antibodies and minibinders to create stable, high-quality products that can reach patients worldwide.

You will join Chemistry, Manufacturing & Control (CMC) Development in Drug Product (DP) Development, where promising molecules are transformed into drug products that can progress through development and towards patients. As a Senior Research Scientist in DP Development, you will independently lead formulation activities and provide scientific direction from early development through later clinical stages. With sound judgement, strong ownership and a collaborative approach, you will guide colleagues, influence development decisions and help identify the right path forward for new medicines. Apply today!

What you’ll do

In this senior role, you will drive formulation and process development activities, ensuring robust pharmaceutical characteristics and product stability. You will take end-to-end scientific ownership within projects, anticipate formulation challenges and translate complex data into clear recommendations. You will also support, guide and develop colleagues, helping the team plan effectively and deliver with quality and confidence.

Your key outcomes will be to:

  • Independently design, prioritise, interpret and report formulation studies that support the development of injectable drug products.
  • Lead the planning and execution of studies in close collaboration with scientists, laboratory technicians and specialists, including coordination of team activities and priorities.
  • Take ownership of high-quality documentation for internal and external purposes, including clinical trial applications and patent submissions.
  • Provide scientific guidance, share formulation knowledge and support colleagues in making sound development decisions across the portfolio.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships and represent formulation perspectives with stakeholders across the Novo Nordisk value chain.

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this senior position, you bring a strong scientific foundation, substantial hands-on experience from industry and a proven ability to drive drug product development activities independently. You can turn complex formulation questions into clear scientific recommendations, make well-reasoned decisions and communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from different backgrounds.

The qualifications we are looking for include:

  • A PhD or Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering or another relevant natural science field.
  • Solid industry experience within research and development and drug product development. This is a mandatory requirement.
  • Strong hands-on experience with injectable protein, peptide, antibody or minibinder formulation and stability studies.
  • Experience with phase-appropriate quality expectations, scientific documentation and drug product development across clinical phases.

Additionally, you are fluent in written and spoken English and comfortable working in a multi-stakeholder environment. Experience with clinical trial application documentation, patent submissions, cross-functional portfolio knowledge sharing or coordination of team activities will be an advantage.

On a personal level, you are self-driven and proactive, taking ownership of progress and delivering on commitments. You work independently, contribute positively to the team and build strong, trusting relationships. You apply sound judgement to bring clarity and direction to scientific questions, and support, lead and guide colleagues by sharing expertise, offering constructive input and modelling high scientific standards and collaboration. You plan, coordinate and balance priorities effectively, helping the team achieve shared goals in a dynamic environment.

Who you’ll work with

In CMC DP Development, we are approximately 200 colleagues working on developing formulations and production processes for injectable and oral biopharmaceutical products. You will work closely with scientists, laboratory technicians, specialists and project stakeholders across Global Research, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Analytical Development and Global Manufacturing and Supply. The collaboration spans projects from early development through late-stage development and process validation.

What you can expect here

At Novo Nordisk, you can expect a role where your scientific judgement matters and where you will have the mandate to shape formulation strategies and move complex development projects forward. You will have opportunities to deepen your expertise, strengthen your cross-functional influence and contribute as a senior scientific role model in a collaborative environment.

You will be trusted to work independently, take ownership and guide others, while contributing to work that helps create progress for people living with serious chronic diseases.
