Senior IT Project Manager

Would you like to shape a new global support model while driving IT projects across organisational boundaries? Join us in a highly visible role where you will combine service management, supplier governance and project leadership to strengthen the delivery of digital services supporting our global Research organisation.

Your new role

As Senior IT Project Manager, you will take ownership of the operational and service-management activities required to establish consistent global Level 1 support for Research IT systems through an external managed-service provider. Alongside this primary focus, you will facilitate smaller IT project workstreams and lead cross-organisational initiatives across Research IT.

This is a broad and autonomous position requiring you to bring structure, momentum and clear decision-making to a global, matrixed environment. You will work closely with internal specialists and delivery teams, Research leaders and external suppliers, without directly managing the people involved. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Driving the onboarding and implementation of the selected managed-service provider, including the operational setup, governance model and transition into reliable service delivery.

  • Managing supplier relationships and contract expectations, monitoring performance and acting as a point of escalation when critical service or delivery issues arise.

  • Establishing and improving consistent incident, problem, change and support processes across global Research locations.

  • Facilitating IT projects and workstreams by aligning stakeholders, maintaining clear plans, managing risks and ensuring delivery against agreed scope, timelines and objectives.

  • Leading cross-organisational initiatives independently, communicating progress to senior stakeholders and creating momentum across teams and geographical boundaries.

The role calls for an experienced professional who can balance operational delivery with a strategic perspective, navigate ambiguity and quickly become an independent partner to the organisation.

Your new department

Reporting to the Sr Director of Research Tech Delivery & Global Lab Operations, you will join the Novo Nordisk's global Research IT organisation, supporting scientists and laboratories across Denmark, the UK, China, and the US. We build, deliver, and operate digital products, platforms, and services that enable world-class research. We also lead and deliver IT as part of strategic business and investment projects, ensuring scalable, secure, and future-ready technology solutions that accelerate scientific innovation.

Your skills and qualifications

We are looking for an experienced and delivery-focused professional who can build trusted relationships while maintaining the structure needed to move complex work forward. You have sufficient technical understanding to operate credibly in an IT environment, while your primary strengths lie in project delivery, governance, facilitation and coordination.

To succeed in this role, we expect that you bring:

  • Substantial experience in senior IT project management, service delivery management or IT service management, ideally gained in a global or complex organisation.

  • Demonstrated experience managing external suppliers, service performance and contract expectations, including the resolution and escalation of delivery issues.

  • A solid understanding of IT service-management principles, including incident and problem management. Knowledge of ITIL principles is relevant, while formal certification is advantageous.

  • Strong project leadership, facilitation and stakeholder-management capabilities, with experience driving initiatives across organisational and geographical boundaries.

  • An independent and pragmatic working style, strong communication skills and the ability to prioritise effectively while managing several areas of responsibility.

Experience establishing or transitioning to a managed-service model, or working in Research, life sciences, consulting or another regulated global environment, would be beneficial
