Senior Analytical Scientist for Preformulation & Characterisation
CMC Product & Process Development
CMC Oral Analytical Development, Målev
Shaping future oral therapies through solid‑state and analytical excellence.
Get ready to play a key role in developing and characterising next‑generation oral formulations of peptides and small molecules. Bring your passion for solid‑state characterisation and preformulation into a fast‑moving environment defined by close internal collaboration and strong external partnerships. Step into the role as Senior Analytical Scientist, where your expertise drives innovation and accelerates early‑phase development of a growing small molecule pipeline for Novo Nordisk.
Your new role
As our new Senior Analytical Scientist, you will be a central scientific contributor across our expanding pipeline, working with both solid‑state characterisation and biopharmaceutical evaluation of small molecules and peptides. You will collaborate closely with a cross‑functional team of scientists, laboratory technicians, and external partners to ensure high‑quality analytical deliveries that support our early- and late-phase development projects. With a combination of hands‑on laboratory work, scientific leadership and cross‑functional coordination, you will help bridge science, quality and project progression.
Your Responsibilities:
Solid-state characterisation & preformulation
- Characterisation of drug substances, excipients and oral formulations in early- and late-phase development projects.
- Build a comprehensive understanding of the physicochemical properties of peptides and small molecules, including crystal form, thermal behavior, hygroscopicity, and physical stability.
- Expertise within analytical techniques such as XRPD, TGA, DSC, DVS, BET, PSD, iGC, FT-IR and µdissolution in biorelevant medias.
Project leadership & collaboration
- Coordinate analytical deliveries across internal teams and external partners.
- Review, challenge, and quality‑assure analytical work performed at Contract Research Organisations (CRO) & Contract Manufacturing Organisations (CMO).
- Troubleshoot complex analytical issues and ensure documentation meets regulatory and industry standards.
- Ensure progress and balance quality requirements in both GMP and non‑GMP environments.
Your skills and qualification
You hold a MSc within Life Sciences (Natural sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering or other relevant discipline) and a PhD (or similar experience). You also bring:
- Experience with preformulation and solid‑state characterisation of peptides or small molecules - ideally both.
- Oral formulation development experience is an advantage.
- Excellent collaboration skills and motivation to work both hands‑on in the lab and at a project leadership level.
- Natural flair for stakeholder management and CRO/CMO collaboration.
- Fluency in English; Danish is an advantage but not required.
You thrive in a dynamic, ever‑evolving environment where shifting priorities energise rather than unsettle you. You bring a deep curiosity, a natural flexibility, and a proactive drive that pushes science and collaboration forward. And above all, you have the ability to turn complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives while building strong, trusting relationships across teams, partners, and scientific disciplines.
Your new area
With this role, we welcome you to Chemistry, Manufacturing & Control (CMC) Product & Process Development within Novo Nordisk – a community with more than 2,500 colleagues across the globe, all working to make a difference for the millions of patients by accelerating product development and production.
You will join the Preformulation and Characterisation (PaC) team, which is currently comprised of 11 dedicated scientists and laboratory technicians. The PaC team is an integral part of CMC Oral Analytical Development, which is a department consisting of 6 teams and approximately 100 employees. The department is responsible for developing and validating analytical methods - including dissolution and UPLC platforms - as well as providing analytical support and selected QC activities for development projects. We foster a collaborative, high‑expertise environment with a strong focus on professional and personal development.
You will be part of a collaborative, high‑expertise environment where knowledge sharing, curiosity and continuous learning are core to how we work.
