Scientist for Bioprocesses - Stem Cell CMC

The position

We are seeking a skilled Stem Cell Scientist who are enthusiastic about working in the department with expertise in bioprocess development and stem cell biology and CMC. Here you will be part of the project groups in the cell therapy field and transformational research. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, planning and executing the experiments carefully.

In the field of cell therapy, products are typically the result of a long and complex in vitro cell expansion and differentiation processes. Analysing experimental results to identify favourable and robust cell culture conditions for consistent process outcome will be key. You will play an important role in contributing into the development of strategies with main focus on chronic heart failure disease. The position will combine desk-based preparation/analysis and hands-on work in cell culture laboratories. The work is done in the close collaboration with internal and external partners in an international setting.

 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you need a strong interest in stem cell biology and/or bioprocess development. You need to have MSc or PhD degree in a relevant discipline plus minimum of 3-5 years of experience relevant experience, ideally within an pharmaceutical industry setting.

 

The most required and sought-after skills for this role are:

  • Strong background in bioprocessing, suspension mammalian cell culture and conventional bioreactors systems
  • Previous experience with cardiomyocyte cultivation and biology
  • Proven ability of data analyses and interpretation
  • Capabilities of applied statistics (incl. DoE) is an advantage
  • Knowledge on CMC requirements within pharmaceutical development
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

 

About the department

The department Stem Cell Process Development II is part of Novo Nordisk’s new Stem Cell R&D unit, where we develop novel cell replacement therapies for the treatment of serious chronic diseases. Our department receives projects from the research area and focuses on the development of manufacturing and control processes across the entire pluripotent stem cell workflow, starting with cell line derivation and ending with an efficacious and well-characterised product. Diabetes mellitus type 1, Parkinson’s disease and chronic heart failure are only some of the indications we are currently working on. You will join an international and dedicated department of 16 employees, including scientists, laboratory technicians and student workers.
