The position
As a Principal Scientist, you will be responsible for executing and delivering on our Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes portfolio and must-win battles and be considered a disease expert. You will be involved in generating data and reports to aid in accelerated IND submissions for our LEAD biology and establishing ex vivo and human in vitro assays to investigate mode-of-action of the drug candidates. 
Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Having a deep understanding of incretin or amylin biology and in vitro pharmacology in metabolic diseases, notably obesity and Type 2 Diabetes within the department and to be a subject matter expert and biology lead for the projects
  • Ensuring the department contributes with human-centric fit for purpose assays e.g. bias and partial agonists, allosteric modulators, receptor occupancy etc. with focus on primary human cells to support the LEAD portfolio
  • Proactively strengthening the LEAD Mechanism of Action narrative and further developing and expanding our state-of-the-art in vitro/ex vivo experimental research platform to investigate LEAD drug candidates
  • Collaborating closely with the rest of the LEAD R&ED team and relevant PVPs in a problem-solving, scientific insights and "go-do" attitude
  • Maintaining in-depth disease knowledge within cardio-metabolic space and fostering and sustaining necessary external interactions/collaborations with Key Opinion Leaders
  • Contributing to publications as the LEAD assets advance into and progresses in the clinic

 

Qualifications
To thrive in this position we imagine that you have: 

  • PhD in a relevant field (e.g. biochemistry, pharmacology, or related discipline)
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in drug discovery and development, with a focus on incretins or amylin biology
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Strong track record of scientific publications and presentations in relevant fields

On a personal level, you are able to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Furthermore, you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills that will allow you to effectively communicate with team members, stakeholders, and other professionals within and outside of the organization.


About the department 
The LEAD biology department is a team of five individuals, consisting of two scientists, two laboratory technicians, and one director. The department operates in a matrix organization, providing support to multiple projects for our very clear goal to progress key projects in our pipeline. The team maintains a positive attitude and fast-paced work ethic, with a focus on the patients as our ultimate customers. The department is based in Måløv, Denmark.
