The Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal Scientist to join our team and contribute to expanding our excellence in GLP-1 research in the fields of cardiovascular disease, and the immune system. The ideal candidate will have expertise in GLP-1 and human omics data, and will be responsible for developing new scientific, clinical, and regulatory strategies for exploring novel uses of GLP-1. 

 

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting cutting-edge dry-lab research to expand our knowledge of GLP-1 in the areas of cardiovascular disease and the immune system
  • Utilizing human omics data to gain a comprehensive understanding of the mechanism of action of GLP-1 and its potential therapeutic applications
  • Developing innovative scientific, clinical, and regulatory strategies to explore new uses of GLP-1 in various diseases 
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and execute experiments, analyze data, and interpret results 
  • Staying updated with the latest scientific advancements and literature in the field of GLP-1 research
  • Publishing high-impact papers in reputable scientific journals to disseminate research findings.

 

At Novo Nordisk we have been driving change for people with diabetes for 100 years. Within the last 15 years we have seen our GLP-1-based products being used increasingly. With substantial clinical and basic science knowledge about GLP-1, we are now looking to expand our research to unlock new potential and drive further change. It is an exciting time because we have so many data from our own clinical trials.


Qualifications
You are a scientist and hold a PhD degree with a focus on human biology. You possess several years of experience post PhD within an academic, healthcare, or pharmaceutical environment in the field of cardiovascular disease, and the immune system. Ideally, you have extensive experience with drug discovery, development, or clinical trial methodology whether from the industry or academia. 

 

Furthermore, to succeed in this role you possess a solid foundation in the majority of the below listed areas:

  • Strong background in analyzing human omics data to elucidate molecular mechanisms 
  • Experience in developing scientific, clinical, or regulatory strategies for novel therapeutic applications 
  • Track record of publishing high-impact papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets 
  • Proficient in experimental design, data analysis, and statistical methods
  • Experience with GLP-1 is preferred 

 

On a personal level, you are able to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. You have a team-oriented personality with a high degree of flexibility and cross-cultural awareness and can achieve goals in constructive collaboration with multiple global stakeholders. Furthermore, you have strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present research findings effectively.

 

About the department
You will be joining a team led by long-term GLP-1 innovator and scientist Lotte Bjerre Knudsen, Chief Scientific Advisor for Research and Early Development, who has worked to invent and advance GLP-1 based transformational treatments for decades. The GLP-1 biology is relevant for many diseases including diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular and kidney disease, and we want to take it to next stage by expanding our knowledge based on human data and create new ideas for the benefit of patients.
