Shape the future of nonclinical safety assessment. As a Principal Scientist in Toxicopathology at Novo Nordisk, you will be the trusted expert guiding critical pathology evaluations that protect patients before therapies ever reach them. This is a unique opportunity to apply your deep scientific expertise and influence decision-making across a global development pipeline.
Your new role
In this pivotal position, you will lead toxicopathology activities across exploratory, nonclinical, and GLP studies. You will act as a key scientific voice, helping to resolve complex pathology-related safety questions, advance discipline development, and ensure that pathology data meets the highest standards for regulatory submission.
The role is based onsite in Måløv, where close collaboration with colleagues and engagement in laboratory-related activities are important parts of the position. At the same time, we offer some flexibility in how the working week is structured. Any flexible arrangements will be agreed in close dialogue with the manager and balanced with the needs of the team and the business.
Furthermore, you will:
- Act as Sponsor's Peer Reviewing Pathologist (PRP), evaluating histopathology findings, reviewing pathology reports, and overseeing the quality and credibility of pathology data across internal and Contract Research Organization studies (GLP and non-GLP)
- Take responsibility for pathology data across assigned projects, including the evaluation and interpretation of histopathology findings and contribution of pathology expertise to study reports and regulatory submissions
- Develop and advance toxicopathology methods and practices, ensuring optimal techniques, up-to-date terminology, and consistent diagnoses across projects and the broader organization
- Mentor and supervise peers and junior colleagues, fostering scientific excellence and knowledge-sharing within the discipline
- Provide expert pathology input to multidisciplinary project teams and present scientific findings at safety committee and departmental meetings
- Contribute to the advancement of digital pathology capabilities
- Prepare regulatory documents and lead interactions with health authorities on nonclinical pathology safety matters
- Participate in due diligence activities by evaluating nonclinical pathology data to inform business decisions
Your new department
In Research & Development, you will be part of a unit that explores scientific ideas and advances them into clinical testing. We combine curiosity, AI tools, and human data to develop transformative therapies. Through collaboration and operational excellence, we shape and deliver an innovative pipeline to meet future patient needs.
The Pathology & Imaging department sits within our non-clinical safety assessment area. Working from our site in Måløv, with global reach, you will collaborate with Contract Research Organizations, regulatory authorities, and internal project teams to ensure rigorous, scientifically sound safety evaluations that protect patients and advance our pipeline.
Your skills and qualifications
We are seeking a toxicopathologist with deep scientific expertise, strong self-leadership, and the ability to influence across complex stakeholder landscapes.
Ideally, you bring:
- 6+ years of professional experience in toxicopathology, including GLP compliance
- Proven ability to reach consensus and influence internal stakeholders, including senior management, through strong scientific reasoning, even when perspectives differ
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to translate complex biological and potential safety issues into clear insights for diverse audiences
- A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to identify challenges, adapt approaches, and contribute to new ways of working within your field of expertise
- A strong attention to detail and the ability to thoughtfully assess complex pathological material
- Interest in digital pathology and related technologies, with motivation to contribute to the implementation and adoption of digital and computational approaches within toxicopathology
- A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong relationships across global, multinational environments and with colleagues at different levels
- A positive and independent way of working, with initiative, flexibility, and openness to change
