Postdoc - Innovative Healthcare Initiative for Precision Cardiometabolic Medicine
Måløv, Capital Region of Denmark, DK
Data Science, Computational Real-World Evidence
Måløv/Søborg, Denmark
We are seeking a talented Postdoc to work within two Innovative Healthcare Initiative (IHI) Public-Private Partnerships, the Novo Nordisk-led iCARE4CVD and COMBINE-CT. This is a rare opportunity to join a high-profile, pan-European public-private initiative at the frontier of data-driven medicine — and to do so in a role where you will actively shape the scientific direction. If you are a researcher who wants their work to matter — to influence how cardiovascular and cardiometabolic disease is understood, predicted, and treated across Europe — this is the position for you.
The position is of 1.5 years’ duration, starting 3 August 2026 and finishing on 31 March 2028 (with potential extension to 30 September 2028).
Your new role
The successful candidate will lead the computational modelling work package of iCARE4CVD, co-steering the research modelling group with a public academic co-lead. This is a lead position — you will be expected to independently shape the research agenda, propose meaningful scientific questions, and translate analytical results into clinical and biological insights that advance precision cardiovascular and cardiometabolic medicine.
The emphasis is always on impact and insight, not methodology for its own sake. You will select the most fit-for-purpose approach — machine learning, deep learning, or classical statistical models — guided by the scientific question.
Core responsibilities include:
- Co-leading the AI and computational modelling work package, ensuring the research programme remains ambitious, feasible, and impactful
- Proactively proposing research questions contributing to precision medicine, patient stratification, and biomarker discovery across the CVD-cardiometabolic continuum
- Designing and applying fit-for-purpose models across heterogeneous, multi-cohort patient datasets
- Assessing and communicating feasibility; confidently prioritising work and pushing back on requests that are not scientifically or technically viable
- Inspiring collaborators across the IHI partnership and internally at Novo NordiskEngaging with the wider Public-Private Partnership on coordination, communication, and scientific dissemination
We do not offer relocation support for the role and are looking for candidates living with close proximity to our Måløv and Søborg sites.
Your skills & qualifications
You hold a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline such as applied statistics, computer science, data science, computational biology, biomedical engineering or physics. You have strong programming skills in Python or R, and a solid track record of independently driving research projects — ideally in collaborative, multi-stakeholder settings — supported by a strong publication record.
You will be able to clearly demonstrate:
- Proficiency across deep learning (transformers, neural networks, transfer learning) and traditional ML methods
- Meaningful experience in at least some of the following: real-world evidence, clinical trials biostatistics, survival modelling, causal inference, reinforcement learning for precision medicine, biomarker discovery, or medical imaging
- Familiarity with longitudinal patient-level data is a strong advantage
- Strong data analysis, visualisation, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex findings to diverse audiences
- Evidence of having independently driven projects as well as a strong publication record
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
- Expertise in the cardiovascular disease area will be highly advantageous
We are looking for someone with strong foundations and genuine curiosity to keep learning. You do not need to tick every box — our north star is always the clinical and biological question, not the method. If you bring intellectual rigour and the drive to make a real difference in cardiovascular and cardiometabolic medicine, we want to hear from you.
Your new department
Computational Real-World Evidence (cRWE) is a department leveraging population-level, longitudinal real-world data (RWD) to support early drug discovery, via an integration of causal inference and ML/AI-based modelling approaches. We inform disease understanding, target identification and maturation, safety drug repurposing, bringing human evidence to preclinical safety questions, identifying and validating biomarkers in the population, and guiding Phase 1 trial design. RWD encompasses patient demographics, clinical diagnoses and history, prescribed medication, lab results, procedures and medical imaging.
