Formulation Scientist

We are seeking a dedicated Scientist with solid knowledge of rheology who would become our partner in formulation development activities for cell-based therapies. If you would like to support us with expanding liquid formulation activities and be our rheology knowledge centre while taking charge of installing brand new equipment and introducing best practice, please apply and become our expert in translating stem cell products into the clinics.

 
The Position
The position is anchored in the Stem Cell Analytics and Formulation Department, located in the greater Copenhagen area. 

•    The scientist independently plans and executes rheology experiments in the laboratory to evaluate the flow properties of different liquid formulations. The development of suitable liquid formulations will be a key factor for dosing accuracy and cell retention. 
•    You will run functional characterisation studies for screening and optimization of variety of biomaterials in collaboration with analytical experts and perform data collection, analysis and interpretation. 
•    The activities will require tight collaboration with analytical scientists and other departments within Stem Cell R&D such as Drug Delivery, Process Development and Devices. 
 
Qualifications
It is key that you have documented hands-on experience in rheology of low viscosity liquids as well as cell-biomaterial interactions and a good understanding of biological systems.  

 Furthermore:
•    You hold a PhD degree in biotechnology, polymer chemistry, biology or a similar field of studies. Preferably you have gathered initial experience in the pharmaceutical industry or from a relevant role in academia. 
•    Ideally you have experience within the development of cellular characterization assays such as cell counting, immunocytochemistry or ELISA. 
•    Experience within DoEs and automation equipment would also be an advantage. 
 
This position requires you to be a dedicated and result-oriented team player who enjoys working in an innovative, dynamic, international, and open-minded environment. You can easily collaborate cross-departmentally, have a sound scientific judgment and are used to clearly present scientific data. 

 

About the Department
The department Stem Cell Analytics and Formulation has been recently established and is part of Novo Nordisk’s Stem Cell R&D unit, where we develop novel cell replacement therapies for the treatment of serious chronic diseases. 
We assure the control of manufacturing processes across the entire pluripotent stem cell workflow. Diabetes mellitus type 1, Parkinson’s disease and chronic heart failure are only some of the indications currently in the pipeline. 
 
You will join an international and dedicated Stem Cell CMC division of circa 60 employees, including scientists, project leaders, laboratory technicians and student workers. We have expertise in analytical development, bioprocess development, stem cell biology and GMP compliance and truly believe that stem cell therapies will make a difference in the lives of patients.
