The position
As the Director of Data Stewardship, you will:
- Lead the implementation of a data management strategy for R&ED data in collaboration with other departments.
- Implement and manage processes for data validation, cleaning, and standardization.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of data across all research projects.
- Monitor and enforce data governance policies to maintain compliance.
- Evaluate and implement data management tools and technologies.
- Establish KPIs to measure the effectiveness of data stewardship initiatives.
- Report on data quality, compliance, and other relevant metrics to senior leadership.
- Seek out, build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with global internal and external stakeholders in ways that accomplish key business objectives, and influences others to do the same.
- Orchestrate large scale win-win situations in complex stakeholder landscapes.
- Collaborate in building and articulating the vision and roadmap for data integration framework that is fit for R&ED
- Foster a sense of camaraderie and well-being among team members within department, the VP area and across stakeholders.
- Display strong communication skills in disagreements based on valid arguments and facts.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration (often also internationally) among necessary stakeholders when making decisions and developing strategic plans
- Engage with industry fora and key opinion leaders to articulate Novo Nordisk’s views and requirements
- Buildup network on behalf of NN to ensure access to state-of-the-art technology and methods.
Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with:
- A PhD in life sciences, Pharmacy, or Computational Science with 8+ years of relevant experience.
- 10+ years’ experience in drug discovery and 5+ years as a line manager within research.
- Expertise in Data Systems Management, Data Analysis and Review, and Data Quality and Integrity Assurance.
- Experience in Data Acquisition, Transformation & Harmonisation, and Data Management and Data Analytics Tools.
- Knowledge of regulations and legislation, and data governance and security.
- Strong understanding of architecture principals in Data Architecture and Business Communication.

The Research Data Management area at Novo Nordisk, located at our headquarters, is dedicated to ensuring secure freedom to operate and effective data-driven decision-making from Novo Nordisk research data. We strive to enable FAIR@source in new software and data products, harmonize research data assets, and provide a single source of truth for research metadata. Our team plays a crucial role in ensuring business continuity through submissions of formatted non-clinical study data for approvals.
