The position
As the Director of Research Data Governance, you will:
- Develop and execute a cohesive research data governance strategy aligning with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Create and maintain a comprehensive set of data standards, policies, and procedures to ensure data security, privacy, and compliance.
- Collaborate with Research and Development teams, data scientists, IT, and legal departments to define data governance policies and best practices.
- Oversee the end-to-end governance of research data, ensuring data integrity and quality across all research activities.
- Manage a team of data governance professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure successful execution of data governance initiatives.
- Develop and implement training programs to promote a culture of data governance awareness and best practices.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to continually improve data governance processes and strategies.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on data governance initiatives, compliance status, and risk assessment findings.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A PhD in life sciences, Pharmacy, or Computational Science with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- +10 years’ experience in drug discovery and +5 years’ experience as a line manager within research.
- Comprehensive knowledge of pharma industry, and data governance in life sciences.
- Expertise in data management, regulatory compliance, privacy and ethics rules, data quality, and risk management.
- Strong project management, business acumen, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven track record of creating business results with impact on SVP/EVP level.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and build effective teams.

The Research Data Management area at Novo Nordisk is located at our headquarters and has members located across the globe in our R&ED sites. Our team is dedicated to ensuring secure freedom to operate and effective data-driven decision-making from Novo Nordisk research data. We strive to enable FAIR@source in new software and data products, harmonise research data assets, and provide a single source of truth for research metadata. The atmosphere is dynamic and innovative, and we play a crucial role in ensuring business continuity through submissions of formatted non-clinical study data for approvals.
