Associate Scientist / Laboratory Technician Genome Engineering
Måløv, Capital Region of Denmark, DK
Are you passionate about implementing cutting-edge genome editing technologies for stem cell applications? Are you excited to contribute to the early operations and science of a new research team? Do you have a stem cell differentiation background and an eagerness for fast-paced, hands-on laboratory work? Importantly, do you thrive in a culture of collaboration, curiosity, and innovation?
If yes, then you might be the one we are looking for to contribute to the GEM CELL Hub (Genome Engineering & Manufacturing of Stem Cell-Derived Cell Types), a new project to generate stem cell-derived cell types for target discovery, screening assay development, and drug screening. Apply today and become part of Novo Nordisk's mission to improve lives through innovative pharmaceutical solutions.
The position
Novo Nordisk is seeking a highly collaborative and proactive Associate Scientist / Laboratory Technician to join the newly established GEM CELL Hub within the Global Research Technologies division. This position offers an exciting opportunity to participate in the shaping of the infrastructure of a stem cell cultivation and differentiation lab, as well as adjacent research capabilities tied to genome engineering.
The main responsibilities can be summarized as follows:
- Cell culture of human pluripotent stem cell lines and clones
- Transfection and nucleofection of mammalian cells, preferably stem cells
- FACS sorting of cells
- Preparation of single-cell transcriptomics libraries
- Laboratory support and maintenance of reagents and infrastructure, including robotics
- Competence with common molecular biology assays required for genome engineering such as DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, PCR, gel electrophoresis
Qualifications
To thrive and succeed in the role, we would expect you to have an education as a laboratory technician (laborant), biomedical laboratory scientist (bioanalytiker), B.Sc. or M.Sc. with at least 4-6 years of work experience. Solid hands-on experience with human pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiations, preferentially in both adherent and suspension cultures is required. We would also expect you to have experience with electronic data handling, documentation and reporting of experimental data.
It will be considered advantageous if you also have:
- Knowledge of high-throughput screening and assay development
- Familiarity with automated liquid handling systems and robotics
- Hands-on experience with establishment of bioreactor-based processes
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
The position requires significant collaboration and coordination between different scientists and an organized and detail-oriented mindset. To feel comfortable in this role, you should have excellent communication and collaboration skills, be a dedicated team player and possess a strong drive to take responsibility and ownership.
About the area
The GEM CELL Hub is based in Bioprocess Research, Global Research Technologies, representing a new effort to bolster our drug discovery program using stem cell-derived cell types for target discovery and drug screening and related purposes. The primary aim is to ensure the accessibility of top-tier stem cell-derived cells for the diverse applications, catering to varying demands for cell types andquantities, thereby also requiring the need for ongoing research and development of methods and processes. Ultimately, the goal is to facilitate the distribution of cells to stakeholders across the globe. The project will benefit from synergies of being co-localized with our cultivation experts in the area while having easy access to assay development colleagues and experts from our therapeutic stem cell area.
