Are you an experienced laboratory technician with hands-on experience in various technologies used in drug discovery, such as solid phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) or compound analysis? Do you want to deepen your knowledge of automation and digital solutions while contributing to the development of life-changing therapies? Join Novo Nordisk as an Advanced Laboratory Technician in a diverse and innovative department where collaboration, curiosity, and efficient execution drive our work.

The position

The tasks for this position can cover a diverse range of technologies, depending on your current technical skills, e.g. SPPS, chromatographic analysis, and in vitro assays. In addition, you will help ensure that laboratory equipment is kept in good working condition, and you should be comfortable performing instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. All work is performed in close collaboration with department scientists and laboratory technicians. You will contribute to deliveries to other internal departments, where timelines are adhered to.

As our new Advanced Laboratory Technician, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Plan and execute experiments including high-throughput SPPS screening using highly digitalized automation solutions together with your team.
  • Analyse and characterise samples using UPLC, LC‑MS, and SEC.
  • Formulate novel compounds for assays by utilizing our state-of-the-art automated platforms.
  • Perform data analysis and document experimental work in collaboration with project chemistry teams.
  • Take part in experimental troubleshooting.
  • Perform daily maintenance of instruments.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of novel automated workflows.

We will, of course, provide thorough onboarding to all our systems, instruments, and daily tasks.

Your new department

You will join Research Workflow Operations (ResWO). The area was recently established to enable faster delivery at scale by strengthening the execution of research activities within the protein and peptide pipeline across Therapeutics Discovery in R&D. ResWO will play a key role in supporting competitive research timelines for early research projects until lead candidate selection by designing, deploying, and optimising high-throughput workflow-based research operations. Success is built on close collaboration with stakeholders across Therapeutics Discovery and a shared ambition to continuously improve how we work. We provide an inspiring and ambitious work environment where you can feel empowered to challenge the status quo, experiment with new ways of working, build a thriving culture, and shape the future of the area.

Your skills and qualifications

We are looking for a motivated team player who thrives in an international scientific environment and is passionate about executing automated workflows that contribute to meaningful research.

With relevant experience, you will bring:

  • An education as a Laboratory Technician (Laborant) with experience from industry or an academic setting.
  • Example subjects of experience and knowledge: organic synthesis, peptide chemistry, preparative HPLC, compound formulation, SEC analysis, in vitro assays.
  • Knowledge of and interest in standard chromatographic QC analytical techniques.
  • Self-driven and organized approach with the ability to proactively find solutions or seek guidance when challenges occur.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a positive drive to succeed together as a team.
  • Motivation to expand your skill set and adapt to new work routines in line with technological advances.
  • Interest in programming liquid handlers or automation software.
  • Proficiency in English communication, both written and verbal.

On a personal level, you are focused on contributing to a positive working environment and collaborating constructively with others through clear communication and information sharing. You are proactive and solution-oriented, take ownership, and respond quickly to challenges. You have a strong execution mindset and are highly interested in automation and digital solutions.
