Protein Research

Måløv, Denmark

Do you thrive in a collaborative and dynamic environment and enjoy applying your expertise in molecular biology and mammalian cell work? We are looking for a skilled Advanced Laboratory Technician to join Protein Research at Novo Nordisk. In this role, you will contribute to the early research pipeline and play a key role in advancing our in vivo antibody and VHH (single-domain antibody) discovery platform.

Your new role

This laboratory-based position is ideally suited for a proactive individual who thrives on delivering high-quality results, managing a high level of complexity, addressing challenges collaboratively, and working independently.

In this role, you will support key parts of our antibody and VHH discovery workflow, including hybridoma sequencing, single B-cell cloning using 10X Genomics, mammalian protein expression, and initial binder characterisation using ELISA and Biolayer Interferometry (BLI).

You will work closely with 1–2 scientists in our in vivo team, consisting of four scientists and four technicians, and receive a thorough introduction to the established methods used in the role.

As an Advanced Laboratory Technician in the Department of Protein Research, you will:

  • Culture and sequence hybridomas to enable recombinant antibody production
  • Perform the single B-cell sequencing component of our 10X Genomics platform, including DNA barcoding, microdroplet-encapsulated RT-PCR, library preparation, and sequencing using NGS
  • Express antibodies and VHHs in mammalian cell systems
  • Perform initial antibody and VHH binding characterisation using ELISA or BLI
  • Handle data reporting and registration in electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN), Excel, and other data management systems
  • Interpret experimental data and prepare findings for discussion with your team
  • Contribute to general laboratory maintenance

Your new department

The Protein Research department focuses on cutting-edge technologies for early discovery and engineering of recombinant biotherapeutics and tool antibodies across our entire portfolio. The department consists of around 30 scientists and technicians, organised into two collaborative teams sharing laboratories and office spaces.

Located in Måløv, Denmark, the department is part of the Protein and Peptide Research VP area within Therapeutics Discovery. You will join an environment where close collaboration between scientists and technicians is central, and where dedicated colleagues work together in an inclusive culture that supports learning and development.

Your skills and qualifications

To succeed in this role, you have:

  • An educational background as a laboratory technician with 5+ years of hands-on experience, preferably in pharmaceutical or a similar industrial research setting
  • Strong molecular biology skills (e.g. cloning, PCR, NGS)
  • Experience in mammalian cell cultivation (hybridoma, HEK, and CHO systems)
  • Experience operating liquid handling systems (e.g. BIOMEK robots)
  • Strong knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and ELN documentation

In addition, the ability to manage and prioritise multiple activities on a week-to-week basis is considered a strong advantage. You are motivated to expand your skill set, adapt to new technological advances, and contribute actively and inclusively to a collaborative team environment, with a flexible approach to daily tasks.
