Senior Process Scientist
Lyngby, Capital Region of Denmark, DK
This is the opportunity to be a part of a team that is bringing new pharmaceutical products from development into large-scale manufacturing. We are looking for a Senior Process Scientist to join New Product Introduction (NPI) Alpha, where you will help transform late-stage development products into commercially ready manufacturing processes
Your new position
As a Senior Process Scientist, you will be part of a highly skilled team responsible for developing, scaling, and implementing aseptic manufacturing processes centered around formulation and filling. You will act as the process expert for new drug products from Phase III clinical production through process validation and commercial readiness. You will collaborate closely with development teams, manufacturing sites, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) to ensure successful product introductions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Driving process characterization and validation activities for new products.
- Planning and executing process development studies and supporting laboratory experiments.
- Preparing, reviewing, and approving technical documentation, protocols, reports, regulatory submissions and supporting production of clinical, characterization, and validation batches.
- Supporting technology transfers to Novo Nordisk production sites and CMOs.
- Providing scientific input to control strategies and manufacturing process design.
- Investigating process challenges and driving root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Contributing to the implementation of new technologies and continuous improvements within aseptic manufacturing.
This role offers broad exposure across Novo Nordisk and a unique opportunity to influence how future products are manufactured globally. Travel activity of approximately 10–20 days per year should be expected.
Your new department
New Product Introduction (NPI) is part of Aseptic Manufacturing Science & Technology (AMSAT), an organisation responsible for ensuring robust, efficient, and compliant manufacturing processes across Novo Nordisk’s injectable product portfolio.
NPI serves as the bridge between development and commercial manufacturing. We lead products through the critical transition from Phase III development to full-scale production and launch, ensuring manufacturing processes are robust, scalable, and ready to deliver medicines to patients worldwide.
You will join New Manufacturing Processes Alpha, a team of highly engaged scientists and specialists working across a diverse portfolio of innovative products within diabetes, obesity, and rare diseases.
Your skills & qualifications
To succeed in this role, you likely have:
- An MSc, PhD, or equivalent degree in Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Significant experience within aseptic manufacturing or pharmaceutical production in a GMP-regulated environment.
- Hands-on experience with formulation processes, filling systems, process validation, or technology transfer activities.
- Knowledge of process development, process characterization, and regulatory documentation.
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
As a person, you are curious, analytical, and structured. You enjoy working across organizational boundaries and thrive in a dynamic environment where scientific expertise, collaboration, and problem-solving are essential for success.
