General Manager South America (SAM) Cluster

The job
Reporting to the Head of Business Area South America, Central America & Caribbean (BASAC), based in Panamá, the General Manager SAM will be based in Peru and lead a team of 9 direct reports and more than 35 indirect referrals.
You will act as the primary representative of Novo Nordisk to external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, pharmacies, hospitals, and public institutions, to promote and sell the organisation products.
Innovative initiatives towards change will be key as cross-functional strategies to drive affiliate growth, supported by advanced data analytics to optimize resource allocation and enhance decision-making across sales, marketing, and operations, driving cultural transformation.

The main responsibilities of the role are:
- Directs the policy and operations of the organisation with the objective of achieving the short- and long-term business objectives, increased profit and / or market share.
- Establishes organisation objectives, policies and programs in line with Novo Nordisk HQ/IO/EM/BASAC, set standards and targets. Analyses economic, social, technical, legal and other data or trends.
- Is responsible for the preparation of consolidated affiliate budgets, required reports and forecasts according to set standards, and present them or recommend their adoption to the business area head.
- Appraises the activities of the organisation according to strategies and objectives and monitors and manage performance.
- Reviews recommendation and reports submitted by subordinate staff.
- Co-ordinates and find synergies across departments increasing performance towards business goals.
- Oversees the development and implementation of all organisation activities to protect the funds invested and the interest of the local affiliate and the parent company.
- Ensures the security and development of assets and resources.
- Establishes lines of control and delegates responsibilities to subordinate staff.
- Leads the management of distributors and pharmacy chains across the countries within scope, ensuring alignment with commercial strategies and operational excellence.
- Ensures achievement of commercial targets across Sales Teams, Regional Medical Advisors, and Field Market Access, through strategic guidance and performance monitoring.
- Oversees the development and execution of medical and marketing strategies tailored to the specific needs and dynamics of each country in the cluster.
- Fosters cross-functional collaboration with Human Resources, Finance, Legal & Compliance, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial teams to drive business objectives across the cluster.
- Ensures all activities of the affiliate´s activities comply with NNW, essentials, local acts, legal demands and quality and ethical standards.
- Ensure the unit operates in compliance with Novo Nordisk Quality Management System (QMS) as well as Regulatory and Pharmacovigilance requirements and allocate resources and provide means that allows employees to fulfil their responsibilities.
Qualifications
To ensure success in this role, you are expected to show a proven track record of the following functional and leadership skills:
- Relevant university or business school degree combined with executive education (MBA)
- Minimum 8-10 yeas in Management Position in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in participating in a Management Group for minimum 4 years
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to inspire and influence with impact internal and external stakeholders
- Enhanced analytical skills, including the ability to analyse market data, identify trends, and make informed, strategic decisions based on that data.
- Building, inspiring, and motivating teams. This includes providing clear direction and empowerment while fostering a culture of cross functional collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Strategic thinking skills, including the ability to identify and implement a commercial strategy. Demonstrating clear choices that balance the organization's overall goals and objectives alongside calculated risks.

- You have a high standard of business ethics.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The Business Area South America, Central America & Caribbean (BASAC) encompasses 15 diverse countries. Within this expansive region, BASAC operates through 3 key affiliates (Argentina, Chile and Colombia) and 2 clusters Central America & Caribbean (CAC) and South America (SAM).
