The Position
Overall, a Senior IT Product Owner must be able to balance product vision and strategy with effective backlog management, agile methodologies, communication and collaboration, and business acumen. They should be able to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and development teams and make data-driven decisions that maximize value for the organization.
Relationships
The role will report to the Head of IT in Lexington, MA, and work closely with employees at Novo Nordisk R&D sites in the North American region (Including Boston area sites, Seattle, Fremont, and Boulder), lab and scientific research groups, DDIT RED and broader DDIT organization globally (primarily in Denmark).
Essential Functions
- Responsible for preparing and driving the definition of product vision and roadmap and work with Product Management to establish the product vision, help drive the execution on ART level, and drive the execution of the vision on team level
- Responsible for on an ongoing basis to ensure that the team backlog is up to date with input from the Agile team, System Architects and LoB stakeholders
- Responsible for collaborating with stakeholders to understand key drivers for deliveries to enable ongoing prioritization and content elaboration
- Responsible for ensuring stories are delivered according to agreements (Definition of Done) and help ensure quality in all deliveries with Behavior Driven Development and through definition of acceptance criteria and test
- Core competencies include agile methodology, product vision and strategy, product backlog management, communication and collaboration, and business acumen
Physical Requirements
Travel to HQ in DK may be required. Travel to US sites may be required. Approximately 5 % overnight travel is to be expected.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred. Degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Statistics, or Computer Engineering preferred
- 8+ years relevant experience required with a Bachelor’s degree. 6+ years of relevant experience required with a Master’s degree
- Relevant Experience
- Experience in life sciences, medical device or pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in translating scientific requirements into technical solutions
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical research and broad expertise spanning data and digital, including the ability to perform hands on technical work
- Technical knowledge of cloud computing, data engineering, and DevOps
- Experience communicating with bench scientist and/or other end-users and with middle management
- Hands-on experience with end-to-end development of software products/solutions
- Preferred Experience
- Ability to navigate complex expectations while demonstrating a structured approach to tasks and projects
- Experience participating in technical projects that require ability to influence, collaborate and lead cross-functional teams with multiple moving parts
- Demonstrated ability to generate valuable and relevant ideas, create concepts and solutions based on prioritized ideas and solutions
- Ability to thrive amidst ambiguity and discern the unexpressed problems and derived requirements for digital solutions in a complex global organization preferred
