The Position
Are you ready to make a difference? Novo Nordisk is seeking a Senior Analyst that will primarily be responsible for financial planning related to our research and development activities. Leveraging prior pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience, advanced analytical skills and experience with pre-clinical research and CMC activities, the successful candidate will assume a strategic role on a dynamic Finance team working collaboratively across the Company to provide the optimal mix of analysis, process, financial control and business partnering within the company.
Relationships
This role will report to the Director, Finance and FP&A Lead for US R&ED. The role is located in Lexington, MA and will work closely with finance and business leaders in Lexington, MA, Boulder, CO and Denmark to plan and maximize their resources, ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with department heads, Finance leadership, and Human Resources to drive enterprise-level financial, headcount, and strategic planning
- Develop annual budgets and mid-year forecasts, including assisting with management presentations and corporate leadership reviews
- Work collaboratively with Senior Finance Business Partners to identify and communicate risks and opportunities against existing forecasts while working with budget owners to manage their spending versus plan
- Drive continuous improvement within finance processes and reporting, adding insights and value to the business
- Highlight key insights or trends that require attention and engage with budget owners on the best path forward
- Assist accounting during month-end close with accruals and variance analysis
- Other ad-hoc analyses as required
Physical Requirements
0-10% overnight travel required. Ability to lift 0-10 lbs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is required
- 2-4 years of relevant FP&A experience is required; preferred biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience
- Knowledge of R&D finance is a plus
- Working knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS accounting principals
- Strong Microsoft office suite experience, with an emphasis on Excel modeling and analytical skills
- Experience with large financial enterprise systems (such as SAP, Oracle, etc..) preferred
- Independently takes ownership of tasks, drives projects through to completion
- Outstanding communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills
- Capable of managing and prioritizing multiple projects in dynamic in fast-paced environment
- Ability to effectively collaborate across functional teams and work beyond sphere of control
