The Position

The Data Science Decision Sciences Outreach Lead will scout and landscape strategic priority areas in emerging technologies and trends across the pharmaceutical industry, including AI/ML, RWD, quantum computing, clinical trial enablement, trial data linkages, and data platforms. Through these emerging areas, the role works closely with internal stakeholders to translate critical data science business needs into innovation that delivers meaningful impact across our portfolio.

 

The Decision Science Outreach Lead is responsible for data-driven decision-making for outreach activities, for building and maintaining strong relationships with external partners, building due diligence processes and frameworks, negotiating and finalizing partnership agreements, and monitoring and reporting on partnership performance Decisto internal stakeholders.

 

This role requires a deep understanding of data analytics, emerging technologies and trends in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as experience evaluating, assessing, and ultimately managing partnership discussions to completion. The position requires strong collaboration across the organization.

 

Relationship

This position reports to Senior Director, Decision Sciences in Novo Nordisk’s Data Science Orchestration, Evidence and Outreach (OrEO) organization. The Decision Science Outreach Lead is a key senior expert in the Decision Sciences group, leading and coordinating Data Science outreach activites across various stakeholders in the value chain.

 

The lead will play a key role in helping strengthen this area and will have multiple touchpoints with external companies as well as important Novo Nordisk stakeholders. The role will be responsible for identifying external strategic partners to support our studies and business needs.

 

Essential Functions

  • Scout and landscape strategic priority areas in emerging technologies and trends across the pharmaceutical industry, including AI/ML, RWD, quantum computing, clinical trial enablement, trial data linkages, and data platforms
  • Develop proposals with external partners to develop innovative approaches in data science and align with the company's overall strategy and objectives
  • Evaluate and assess potential partnerships through due diligence and technology assessment. Serve as the point of contact for the organization to manage partnership discussions to completion
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to translate critical data science business needs into innovation that delivers meaningful impact across our portfolio
  • Negotiate and finalize partnership agreements, including IP and commercial terms, with a keen eye for detail
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, negotiate and finalize partnership agreements, and monitor and report on partnership performance to internal stakeholders
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and trends in the pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on identifying new partnership opportunities and driving innovation across the company. Be a thought leader within the company and externally to continue driving innovation across clinical development
  • Deploy data-driven decision making in our internal processes and external outreach efforts

 

Physical Requirements

Ability to travel occasionally – both domestically in the US and internationally to Denmark.

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant field, such as data science, life sciences, business administration, or a related discipline required
  • 8+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech/related industry required with deep understanding of emerging technologies and trends, including AI/ML, RWD, quantum computing, clinical trial enablement, trial data linkages, and data platforms preferred. Relevant advanced degrees may be substituted for experience as deemed appropriate
  • Proven experience in evaluating, assessing, and managing partnerships to completion, with a track record of successful external partnerships
  • Experience developing due diligence processes and frameworks to assess potential data science partnerships
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners. Able to monitor partnership performance and deliver feedback to partners as needed
  • Understanding of contract management principles, including drafting and negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and assessing contractual risks. Experience with high-complexity engagements and negotiating business terms and budgets. Strong attention to detail and ability to work through highly detailed contracting language
  • Able and willing to quickly learn new areas of data science and stay up-to-date on new capabilities, trends, regulations, and best practices. Genuine passion to stay current on developments in data science focus areas
