About the department

In Novo Nordisk Malaysia, the Sales Department consists of highly motivated sales team that are passionate about improving the lives of patients living with diabetes and obesity.

The department provides you the opportunity to drive both launch and established brands for the affiliate. We are a collaborative and dynamic team committed to excellence and drive meaningful impact. The Sales Department and sales director in this position will cover all cardiometabolic busienss areas, including both diabetes and obesity business. 

 

The position 

The Sales director in this position is expected to direct the proper and efficient implementation of the approved marketing and sales plans to achieve specific objectives in accordance with company’s policies and procedures. The person will plan, organize and supervise the activities of the entire sales force to ensure optimum use of their time, resources and efforts. Other responsibilities include: directing the development of sales staff, sales plans, strategies, objective, budgets, policies and procedures that conform to marketing objective; Setting objective and sales target in collaboration with General Manager, Marketing Director, Finance Director, Legal, Market Access Public Affairs (MAPA), Area Professional Sales Manager, Medical Representative and Commercial Effectiveness team; Driving business growth by providing strategic sales input for office within the region. 

 

Main job tasks are:

  • Responsible for affiliate performance together with the rest of the management team: Represent the management team by living the Novo Nordisk Way and walking the talk; provide cross-functional support and collaborate with colleagues across the organization.
  • Sales Planning, Strategy Implementation and Control: Lead the sales team and function to a
  • chieve sales budget, forecast, and bottom line; prepare and allocate budgets and account responsibilities; develop yearly sales plans based on territory inputs; define and track quarterly and annual sales and expense budgets; contribute to marketing plans regarding forecasts, budgets, promotions, and market penetration; provide monthly year-end forecasts; monitor market conditions, competitor activities, and field feedback; ensure proper use of promotional materials and compliance with legislation; and participate in national and local meetings and congresses.
  • People Management: Coordinate with the marketing team on planning and implementing marketing activities such as launches, promotional plans, seminars, talks, and congresses; Manage field and inside sales offices, customer service, and business relationships with medical professionals, clients, distributors, and manufacturers; Coach and develop Sales Managers (SMs) and Sales Executives (SEs) based on coaching and individual development plans; ensure continuous motivation and development of the sales force for effective, target-oriented execution; Evaluate performance through co-visits, feedback and structured support, training, and product info; Set realistic, motivating district targets; review field personnel setup and recommend changes to territories, deployment and development of SMs and SEs and regularly check and follow up on Sales Managers' KPIs.
  • Other individual assignments: Represent Novo Nordisk Malaysia in all sales-related matters and interact with external customers, including but not limited to Medical Doctors, Nurses, Dieticians, Pharmacists, Retail Outlets, Medical Associations, Distributors and Cooperatives.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Sales, Pharmacy, or an MBA in Marketing/Business Administration.
  • 8 years of experience in a similar capacity, preferably within a multinational company.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a people management role in Pharmaceutical/Medical Sales.
  • Proven track record of commercial success in pharmaceutical sales and marketing.
