Manufacturing Site Project Manager

Project Office, Koriyama Factory

Koriyama, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan

Are you ready to turn complex manufacturing challenges into seamless project deliveries? In this role, you’ll be the driving force behind projects that ensure life-saving medicines reach patients on time, on budget, and with uncompromising quality.

Your new role

As a Manufacturing Site Project Manager, you’ll take ownership of manufacturing projects from planning through execution, ensuring every detail aligns with our commitment to patients. You’ll be the central coordinator who keeps multiple stakeholders aligned, budgets on track, and timelines met – all while driving continuous improvement in how we manufacture medicines.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining project timelines, allocating resources effectively, and monitoring budgets to ensure financial targets are met
  • Coordinating cross-functional project activities to meet cost, delivery, and quality targets through optimised designs, methods, and processes
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance production efficiency and quality while ensuring GxP compliance
  • Conducting structured risk analyses, cost-benefit evaluations, and developing mitigation strategies to proactively address project challenges
  • Communicating project status clearly to stakeholders at all levels, facilitating discussions to align goals and ensuring transparency throughout the project lifecycle
  • Mentoring less experienced colleagues to enhance team capabilities and foster knowledge sharing
  • Representing manufacturing project management in cross-functional teams, collaborating with both internal stakeholders and external partners

Your new department

In GMS (Global Manufacturing & Supply), we cover the full value chain from drug and device development to marketed Novo Nordisk products. We are more than 30,000 colleagues across the globe with the shared responsibility of scaling molecules, processes, devices, and products, dedicated to supplying life-saving medicines to the patients who need them most.

Within manufacturing project management, you’ll be part of a dynamic team that acts as the essential link between strategy and execution. We ensure that innovative manufacturing processes are delivered on time and to the highest standards, enabling millions of patients to receive the treatments they need. Your work will directly impact our ability to scale production and bring new therapies to market.

Your skills & qualifications

We’re looking for an experienced project manager who thrives in fast-paced manufacturing environments and can balance multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

You’ll bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
  • 3 years or more of experience in project management or related roles at manufacturing sites, with demonstrated ability to manage complex projects independently
  • Experience with GxP requirements and  pharmaceutical manufacturing processes is preferred
  • Proven track record in stakeholder management, risk analysis, and change management, with the ability to adapt to evolving project conditions
  • Strong English language skills (TOEIC score above 700 or equivalent) with the ability to read, write, and participate actively in meetings with global colleagues
  • Excellent decision-making capabilities for scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management, with authority to implement process improvements independently
