Your new role
As the Production Engineering Manager, you will drive, execute, and ensure smooth, efficient, and compliant factory operations. Other responsibilities include:
- Drive operational excellence on Koriyama Factory (also known as FPMI Japan) shop floors by meeting Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets for automated lines and ensuring equipment is maintained, validated, and available throughout its lifecycle.
- Define and align qualitative and quantitative engineering targets with Local Manufacturing (LM) strategy, maximizing team capability through cross-functional collaboration and effective resource planning.
- Lead continuous improvement and cLEAN®/Kaizen initiatives to boost productivity and efficiency while safeguarding quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Plan and manage mid- to long-term equipment lifecycle strategies, including maintenance, modifications, refurbishments, replacements, and major investments under the project.
- Coach, develop, and motivate the Koriyama Factory Production Engineering (FPMI JP PE) team through daily support, performance dialogues, and skills development, while promoting work–life values.
- Ensure readiness for audits, new product launches, and handovers by standardizing engineering or Repair & Maintenance (R&M) processes, enforcing Engineering, Health, and Safety (EHS) and regulatory requirements, and acting as Subject Matter Expert (SME) during inspections.

The position is based at the Koriyama Factory in the Production Engineering & Facilities (PE&F) department. The PE&F team is dedicated to ensuring the smooth operation of production processes while driving innovation and improvement. The department fosters a collaborative and dynamic atmosphere, where teamwork and continuous learning are highly valued. As part of this team, you will play a key role in shaping the future of production engineering at Novo Nordisk.
Your skills & qualifications
We are looking for a reliable and experienced professional who meets the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on engineering experience (ideally in production, maintenance, or automation), including at least 3 years in a people management role.
- Proven experience working with AutoCAD for equipment or layout design and hands-on PLC systems (programming, troubleshooting and commissioning) to support automation and control activities.
- Proven experience or strong interest in process automation and continuous improvement (Kaizen/cLEAN®) in complex, global operations, with the ability to apply improvement tools and methodologies.
- Strong communication in English and Japanese for business level.
