About the Department

The position will be anchored in Koriyama Factory (KFA) Production, Engineering and Maintenance (E&M), reporting to the E&M manager. The E&M team will be accountable for the planning and execution of equipment maintenance plans and equipment installation in Novo Nordisk Japan Koriyama Factory while corporate with the other teams (Global Development Manufacturing Division, Project Management team etc.) daily for our product.
The Position
As the Equipment Engineer, you are accountable for designing, selecting, installing, setting up and enhancing mechanical/electrical equipment in line with the needs of shop floors.
Other role tasks are as follows, but are not limited to:
- Maintain, improve, and maximize the efficiency of production equipment or systems by driving kaizen or other improvement activities through complex data analysis. Identify potential issues with the machine/equipment, perform thorough root cause analysis and take preventive and predictive actions. Take initiative in tackling critical and major deviations/quality issues caused by machines or materials in compliance with the deviation handling process while closely communicating with local and global QA (Quality Assurance).
- Collaborate with external suppliers or vendors on any technical issues and have on-site technical support from them where necessary. Ensure regular (daily, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, bi-annually) maintenance activities are in place according to planned programs.
- Prepare and update validation and relevant documentation necessary for installation and modification upon implementing new or modified processes and perform validation in accordance with relevant local and global procedures. Ensure any changes potentially having an impact on GxP (Good x Practice) therefore on product quality and patient safety are properly risk assessed and change controlled before they can be implemented.
- Develop or assist in the development of test and work procedures. Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians. Drive automation in shop floors by having an ambitious roadmap in place (in collaboration with global organizations where necessary). Collaborate with KFA Project Office on a larger-scale project accompanying equipment installation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required.
- Fluent in Japanese and have a business level English (oral, reading and written).
- Having 5 years+ of experience in related fields is required.
- Knowledgeable about 3D CAD (Auto CAD/ NX / CATIA V5 etc.) or PLC is essential.
