The position


The main purpose of the role will be to manage Legal matters in the Pakistan Affiliate, providing proactive high-quality advice and risk assessment, in compliance with Novo Nordisk policies and external laws and regulations.

The main accountabilities include:

  • Effectively implement the Global Legal Strategy addressing the priorities as agreed with IO and APAC Regional Offices.
  • Ensure legal compliance with relevant laws and legislation in the Pakistan affiliate, in line with priorities agreed with Affiliate Management Team and IO and APAC Regional Legal Team.
  • Ensure legal compliance with data protection laws and legislation and internal requirements in the Pakistan affiliate.
  • Provide proactive, fast, effective, high quality and business-oriented legal support and advice in Pakistan affiliate key projects, litigation matters, disputes and arbitrations.
  • Ensure effective contract management, drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts, as needed, from legal perspective. Provide and implement best practices, as well as contribute for the improvement of the process.
  • Coordinate and implement an effective system for archiving legal documents.
  • Support elaboration and effectively implement the Affiliate Legal Plan and global policies and procedures within the Affiliate as well as coordinate the development of additional policies and procedures to address local law and pharma industry requirements to supplement the Global policies when needed.
  • Provide proactive and high-quality advice on Legal issues and support staff by giving information and training as necessary.
  • Implement action plans to minimize risk, together with the Affiliate Management Team and in line with BECO, IO and Regional Office processes.
  • Support other functions within the Affiliate or in HQ (e.g., BECO and GIA), IO and Regional office by collecting and coordinating internal Legal data from various departments and sources, as required.


You will ensure that functions in the Affiliate understand and follow standards and processes which are constantly updated in response to changes in regulations, laws and industry (or other) trends that may impact the business and are often challenged and scrutinized by authorities.




You must have a Law Degree from high-ranked Law School and be Member of the applicable legal bar/law society. Ph.D. in Law or LL.M. degree or equivalent (desired).

You should have:

  • Minimum 4+ years’ legal experience with at least 2+ years in the pharmaceutical, chemical, life sciences or medical device industry.
  • On-the-job experience in tier-one law firm.
  • Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical regulation and business transactions.
  • Experience with Business Ethics and Compliance in pharmaceutical or medical device industry (including codes of conduct, FCPA and UK Anti-bribery Act)
  • Fluent in English (mandatory).
