Process Engineer - Fermentation & Sterilisation

Category:  Engineering & Technical
Location:

Kalundborg, Region Zealand, DK

Would you like to play a key role in one of Novo Nordisk’s major expansion projects in Kalundborg? We are looking for process professionals to support fermentation and sterilisation activities from installation and commissioning through to validation, start-up, and long-term production support in a dynamic GMP-regulated environment.

Your new role

As part of the Fermentation & Sterilisation Process Team, you will initially support a major manufacturing project currently in the installation phase. Working closely with engineering partners, suppliers, operators, and cross-functional stakeholders, you will contribute to the successful delivery and operational readiness of new facilities and process equipment.

The role combines hands-on project involvement with opportunities to transition into operational production support as the facility moves into production. You will be part of an experienced and diverse team where knowledge sharing, open communication, and collaboration are key to success.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting installation oversight and equipment implementation activities in close collaboration with engineering partners and suppliers.
  • Driving documentation activities, including review, preparation, and approval of qualification, validation, commissioning, and handover documentation.
  • Participating in FAT/SAT reviews, process testing, technical clarifications, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Contributing to production readiness initiatives, including SOP development, validation activities, and operational preparation.
  • Providing technical support during validation campaigns and the transition into routine production operations.

Success in this role requires a proactive mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of quality and compliance.

Your new department

You will join a mixed and highly skilled process team responsible for fermentation and sterilisation within a large strategic investment project in Kalundborg. The team consists of colleagues with diverse backgrounds, expertise, and experience levels, creating an environment where learning and collaboration are encouraged.

We value open, honest, and direct communication and believe the best results are achieved through teamwork and mutual respect. You will work closely with engineering partners, automation specialists, maintenance teams, cleaning teams, suppliers, operators, and other project stakeholders across the organisation.

The department offers a dynamic project environment where you will have the opportunity to influence solutions, build strong professional networks, and contribute to critical manufacturing capabilities that will support patients worldwide.

Your skills and qualifications

To succeed in this role, we imagine that you have a relevant engineering or scientific background combined with an interest in manufacturing processes, equipment, and operational excellence.

We are looking for candidates who bring:

  • A degree within Engineering, Biotechnology, Natural Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline.
  • Experience from pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments, including GMP-regulated production.
  • Knowledge of process equipment, production support, validation, commissioning, start-up activities, FAT/SAT, testing, or qualification activities.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across functions and external partnerships.
  • Professional proficiency in English, which is sufficient for daily collaboration and documentation activities.

In addition, we are looking for someone who thrives in a project environment, works inde-pendently, takes ownership, and brings a structured approach to prioritising tasks. You are able to manage several activities at once while maintaining attention to detail, and you contribute with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a positive, collaborative attitude.

Whether your background is rooted in fermentation, process equipment, production support, validation, or engineering execution, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while continuing to develop your technical and professional capabilities.
