Your new role

As an Environmental Professional in API Manufacturing (Product Production), you will play a vital role in ensuring that our operations meet the highest environmental standards as we scale production to reach millions of patients. You will act as the environmental responsible for our production facilities, balancing regulatory compliance with continuous improvement and sustainability innovation."

 

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

 

  • Taking responsibility for the external environment in PPV, including sewage, ethanol waste, waste management, air pollution, noise, and energy
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, ISO 14001 (environmental management system), and ISO 50001 (energy management system)
  • Following up on environmental targets and supporting the identification of environmental and energy optimisation projects
  • Planning, executing, and following up on audits to maintain our high environmental standards
  • Contributing to environmental and energy assessments in projects, processes, installations, and work routines
  • Collecting, verifying, and reporting environmental and energy data to track performance and progress
  • Mapping environmental activities to identify opportunities for continuous improvement

 

Your new department

In CMC & Product Supply, we cover the full value chain from drug and device development to marketed Novo Nordisk products. We are more than 30,000 colleagues across the globe, united by a shared responsibility to scale molecules, processes, devices, and products, and dedicated to supplying life-saving medicines to patients worldwide.

 

Within CMC & Product Supply, you will be part of our business support department as part of the PPV production facility and broader Novo Nordisk operations. Here, environmental work is not a compliance checkbox—it is central to who we are and how we operate. We are committed to doing more with less: reaching more patients while reducing our environmental footprint.

 

You will join Purification Plant V (PPV) in Kalundborg, Denmark — a new, state-of-the-art facility currently being built to scale Novo Nordisk’s API purification capacity. We are a team of approximately 380 colleagues finalizing the first process line, which will soon begin operations. PPV will support multiple advanced process lines for scalable production and rigorous quality control, and will play a key role in delivering medicines to low- and middle-income countries. We keep a relaxed tone, set high ambitions, and never compromise on quality or safety. You and your team will be central to PPV’s success and to PPV Business Support.

 

Your skills & qualifications

We are looking for an Environmental Professional who is structured, detail-oriented, and genuinely motivated by environmental performance. You bring:

 

  • An academic background within chemistry engineer, environmental science, or a related field, plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with environmental compliance in a regulated environment
  • Solid experience with ISO 14001 (ISO 50001 is a plus) and strong knowledge of Danish and European environmental legislation
  • A systematic and analytical approach, strong problem-solving and prioritisation skills, and the ability to communicate complex topics clearly to stakeholders
  • A proactive, goal-oriented mindset and the ability to collaborate across the organisation to drive high environmental performance
  • Motivation to stay up to date on environmental legislation, trends, and technologies, and to participate in relevant environmental networks
  • Fluent written and spoken Danish and English
