DCS System Engineer

Category:  Digital & IT
Location:

Kalundborg, Region Zealand, DK

Be the technical backbone of our DCS platform powering API manufacturing – and help ensure life-saving medicines reach patients around the world.

Your new role

As a DCS System Engineer, you will take technical ownership of a DCS system within the DCS Centre of Excellence (CoE) in API IT. This is a hands-on engineering role at the core of our production landscape, where your expertise directly supports manufacturing and business continuity in a regulated environment.

You will work with ABB 800xA platforms and be responsible for maintaining stable, compliant, and high-performing systems while collaborating across IT, automation, and production.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • System operations & lifecycle management: Ensure stable operation, maintenance, access control, backups, and disaster recovery readiness of ABB 800xA systems
  • Change & upgrade management: Perform impact assessments, manage configurations, coordinate upgrades, and support deviation and CAPA handling
  • Integrations across IT/OT landscape: Maintain and support interfaces between 800xA and surrounding systems such as MES, SAP/EWM, PAT, and PI
  • Incident handling & technical support: Provide Level 2 support, troubleshoot system and integration issues, and collaborate with vendors such as ABB for escalations
  • Vendor & stakeholder collaboration: Work closely with vendors and internal stakeholders across QA, production, IT, and automation to ensure system performance and compliance

In this role, you will combine deep technical expertise with structured problem-solving in a highly regulated and business-critical environment.

Your new department

You will join Global Manufacturing & Supply (GMS), covering the full value chain from early development to marketed products. With more than 30,000 colleagues globally, we are committed to scaling processes and delivering high-quality, life-saving medicines.

Within GMS, API IT ensures the stability, security, and continuous improvement of the digital backbone supporting API manufacturing. You will become part of the DCS CoE – a team of skilled engineers and system managers who value technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and reliability.

Our work environment is collaborative and purpose-driven, where every stable system and successful integration contributes directly to patient supply.

Your skills and qualifications

We are looking for a technically strong and solution-oriented engineer who thrives on ownership and complex problem-solving across infrastructure and integrations.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Educational background: BSc or MSc within IT, Engineering, or a related field
  • Relevant experience: 3–5+ years working with ABB 800xA systems (configuration, operation, support, or development)
  • Technical expertise: Strong understanding of DCS and OT architecture, including servers, clients, networking, access management, monitoring, and lifecycle handling
  • Integration knowledge: Experience working with interfaces between automation and IT/OT systems, including data flows, protocols, and error handling
  • Professional capabilities: Structured troubleshooting approach, strong stakeholder communication skills, ability to work under pressure in incident scenarios, and fluency in English

Experience from regulated environments (e.g. cGMP or GAMP) will be considered a strong advantage.
