The position
As our Director Legal, Ethics, Compliance and Quality, your main role will be to pro-vide Legal, Business Ethics Compliance and Quality support to Novo Nordisk South Africa Affiliate employees and department, including Legal, business ethics compli-ance and quality link of global affiliates and global functions and mitigate risk of the Affiliate. This position will report as Vice President & GM South Africa and will have 4 direct reportees.
 
Your main responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Ensure the organization complies with legal and regulatory requirements. Pro-vide legal counsel and support in areas such as corporate law, real estate, tax, business litigation, transactions/antitrust, compliance, intellectual property, employment/labour, corporate governance, ethics.
  • Conduct regulatory activities to ensure products and business activities are ethical and compliant with relevant regulations, laws, and standards. Perform audit activities including examination, verification, evaluation, and reporting on financial, operational, and managerial processes.
  • Review internal processes, documents, and reports to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory frameworks. Provide advice on ethical and legal compliance issues, such as data privacy and Labour Code of Conduct.
  • Monitor legislation and regulatory policies for legal compliance issues across multiple functions. Drive processes and initiatives to embed compliance by de-sign and reinforce risk management processes.
  • Manage the local QA team and be in charge for the quality management sys-tem in the affiliate, local good manufacturing practice (GMP),good distribution practice (GDP), and external inspections by competent authorities in the affili-ate 


Qualifications

  • Degree in Law and admission to the Bar. 8+ years in commercial law, prefera-ble in pharmaceutical sector experience in Compliance and experience in multi-national is beneficial 
  • Solid knowledge of Legal and compliance entities with have extensive knowledge of Ethics and Compliance issues in the industry, global compliance trends and key in-dustry difficulties and developments.
  • Holistic cross-functional knowledge of business. The ability to manage in a flu-id, interactive, matrixed environment and build strong relations and successful partnerships and strategic thinkers.
  • Extensive knowledge of Ethics and Compliance issues in the pharmaceutical industry, global compliance trends and key industry difficulties and developments. Pharma exp is must to have.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with risk, analysis, assess-ment and action. Highly strategic and commercially minded with a strong busi-ness acumen.
